About the Role

 

Reporting to the Group General Manager Financial Crime Portfolio (Group MLRO), General Manager , Fraud & ABAC Risk  is accountable for the strategic leadership, governance and oversight of ANZ’s Fraud and Anti-Bribery/Anti-Corruption frameworks. The role sets Group wide enterprise direction, provides oversight and challenge, and ensures ANZ effectively identifies, manages and responds to fraud, bribery and corruption risks across the jurisdictions in which ANZ operates.

What will your day look like?

 

 

  • Lead the strategy, governance and continuous enhancement of ANZ’s Fraud and Anti-Bribery & Corruption (ABAC) frameworks, ensuring they remain aligned to regulatory requirements, industry standards and ANZ’s risk appetite.
  • Provide enterprise-wide oversight and challenge of Fraud and ABAC risks, identifying emerging threats, assessing control effectiveness and driving remediation activities where required.
  • Shape and deliver the Fraud and ABAC strategic roadmap, providing insightful reporting, escalation and recommendations to senior leaders and governance forums.
  • Partner with regulators, law enforcement agencies, industry bodies and external stakeholders to influence outcomes, monitor emerging developments and strengthen ANZ’s approach to Fraud and ABAC risk management.
  • Drive a proactive and forward-looking risk culture, ensuring the organisation is equipped to respond to evolving fraud and financial crime risks.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing specialist team, building enterprise capability, strengthening awareness and supporting ethical decision-making across the organisation.
  • Foster strong collaboration across business, risk and compliance teams to embed effective Fraud and ABAC risk management practices and deliver sustainable customer and business outcomes
  • Ensure the functions of the Scams Prevention Officer are fulfilled at ANZ (post 31st March 2027) 

What will you bring?

 

  • Extensive senior leadership experience in financial crime, compliance, operational risk or non-financial risk within large and complex organisations.
  • Deep expertise in fraud, scams, anti-bribery and corruption (ABAC) risk management, including regulatory obligations, governance frameworks, controls, risk appetite and escalation pathways.
  • Proven ability to shape enterprise strategy, lead framework development and translate complex regulatory and risk requirements into practical and sustainable business outcomes.
  • Strong executive communication and stakeholder management capabilities, with a track record of influencing senior leaders, regulators and external stakeholders while providing constructive challenge when required.
  • Demonstrated success leading high-performing teams, building specialist capability and fostering a strong risk culture in dynamic and evolving environments.
  • Experience leveraging data, intelligence and risk insights to inform decision-making, identify emerging risks and drive control enhancements, prevention strategies and executive reporting.
  • Strong commercial and organisational awareness, with an understanding of business operations, customer needs, risk and reward trade-offs, and strategic decision-making.
  • Highly developed relationship-building, problem-solving, negotiation and networking skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse stakeholder groups.
