About the Role
This role provides an opportunity to join the Customer Protection Strategy & Performance team working together with stakeholders across the business to protect our customers against fraud and minimise ANZ’s fraud losses. The successful candidate is expected to use analytical techniques to utilise internal and external data/indicators to identify compromises and fraud trends and come up with prevention and detection strategies to mitigate the risk and exposure. The role involves liaising with internal teams and the broader fraud community comprising of representatives from other banks, schemes, external vendors and government bodies. The role also involves ensuring timely and accurate reporting of fraud losses and metrics to business stakeholders and providing insights on the same. Knowledge of Fraud, strong analytical skills and a background in data mining/working with multiple sources of data are key attributes to succeed in this role.

What will your day look like?
- Minimise ANZ’s exposure to fraud through utilisation of data and indicators to identify trends and make appropriate changes to fraud rules and strategies
- Closely work with Fraud & Scams Operations to keep abreast of key fraud and scam trends they are observing and pass on own observations and knowledge of emerging fraud trends
- Minimise customer disturbance in the detection of fraud through efficient detection and prevention techniques with low False positive ratios and minimisation of unnecessary account restrictions
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of key metrics & performance and insights packs. Regularly update business stakeholders on fraud losses and trends
- Conduct process & gap analysis, drive process improvements and maximise system capabilities
- Manage and monitor on an ongoing basis rule performance, identify emerging trends & opportunities of optimisation/improvement
- Work closely with other members of the Fraud strategy and Operations teams towards achieving team goals
- Develop and maintain strong working relationship with business stakeholders to drive strategies to mitigate fraud risk in existing processes and new initiatives
- Network with other financial institutions and industry bodies in order to maintain best practice in Fraud prevention and detection
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- Understanding of retail & commercial bank products, payment channels / types & associated fraud risk
- Experience in working in the Fraud / Digital security area. Or demonstrated close coordination with Fraud teams
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and support quick decision making
- Experience with Data mining and Analysis of large datasets & reporting
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with internal & external stakeholders and peers
- Experience with using SAS/SQL in prior / current role
