Role Type: 12 months contract  


Role Schedule:
Full-time, 40 hours/week

As Environmental Sustainability Manager, you will lead ANZ’s operational environmental and greenhouse gas (GHG) reporting requirements, integrating data from internal operations and external suppliers. Your role includes:

  • Compliance Leadership: Ensure ANZ meets obligations under the Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards (ASRS S2) and other relevant ESG frameworks.
  • Supplier Engagement: Collaborate with key suppliers to obtain accurate Scope 3 emissions data and manage third-party environmental reporting processes.
  • ESG Integration: Work closely with ANZ’s ESG Reporting Team and Climate Program to align operational reporting with Group-wide sustainability disclosures and climate risk strategies.
  • Data Analytics & Insights: Perform quantitative analysis, scenario modelling, and risk/opportunity assessments using internal and market data to inform decision-making.
  • Strategic Collaboration: Partner with ANZ’s Global Property Group to deliver environmental benefits across corporate offices, retail branches, and data centres.

What will your day look like?


Key responsibilities include:

  • Prepare and deliver corporate environmental reports to satisfy: 
    • ASRS S2 and other mandatory ESG disclosure frameworks.
    • Australian Government’s National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Scheme (NGER).
    • Voluntary programs such as RE100.
  • Track progress against ANZ’s public Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions reduction targets and develop additional operational targets to align with ANZ’s climate strategy and net-zero commitments.
  • Manage supplier engagement processes to collect Scope 3 emissions data and ensure compliance with ANZ’s environmental reporting standards
  • Undertake technical analysis and modelling to support ANZ’s environmental and emissions reduction strategies.
  • Collaborate with ESG Reporting and Climate Program teams to integrate operational data into Group-wide sustainability disclosures.
  • Identify risks and opportunities related to climate and environmental performance and make recommendations to leadership.

What will you bring?


To be successful in this role, you should bring in the following:

  • Strong knowledge of environmental sustainability and ESG reporting frameworks, including ASRS S2 and GHG Protocol.
  • Technical expertise in emissions calculations, data modelling, and climate risk assessment.
  • Experience in supplier engagement and third-party risk management for environmental reporting.
  • Ability to translate complex data into actionable insights and communicate effectively with senior stakeholders.
