About the Role
ANZ is modernising its contact-centre landscape into a cloud-native, AI-enabled platform that delivers smart, seamless, and personalised customer and banker experiences across voice and messaging channels. ECC is a core enterprise transformation, building a unified, scalable, and resilient servicing platform underpinned by Amazon Connect and complementary AWS services.
The Chapter Lead Engineer is a senior technology leader responsible for driving engineering excellence and capability uplift across ECC. This role plays a critical part in delivering ANZ’s enterprise contact centre transformation by combining deep hands-on technical leadership with people leadership and chapter development.
The role operates as a player-coach, actively contributing to solution design and engineering delivery while building a high-performing, scalable engineering capability across onshore and offshore teams.

What will your day look like?
- Lead end-to-end solution design and engineering delivery of ECC platforms on AWS
- Actively contribute to delivery through hands-on development and pair coding, guiding teams on React, Node.js and Python (APIs, microservices, event-driven services), Terraform (infrastructure as code, environment provisioning and automation)
- Translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and resilient technical solutions
- Provide real-time technical guidance to squads, removing blockers and uplifting delivery quality
- Lead and grow a high-performing engineering chapter, spanning onshore and offshore teams
- Drive engineering capability uplift, including:
- Skills development and career pathways
- Engineering standards and ways of working
- Continuous improvement and knowledge sharing
- Lead workforce planning and capability strategy, including vendor and partner alignment
- Partner with Product Owners, Delivery Leads, and Business stakeholders to shape solutions based on business needs
What will you bring?
- Extensive experience delivering cloud-native solutions in large-scale enterprise environments.
- Strong hands-on full stack engineering capability, with demonstrated experience in:
- Frontend: React
- Backend: Node.js and Python
- Infrastructure: Terraform
- Proven experience leading solution design and hands-on delivery, including pair coding and mentoring engineers
- Strong experience in distributed systems, integration patterns, APIs, and event-driven architectures.
- Deep knowledge of Release Engineering, including DevOps practices, including CI/CD, automated testing, and monitoring
- Proven experience leading large, distributed engineering teams (onshore/offshore)
- Strong people leadership capability, including:
- Performance management
- Coaching and mentoring
- Capability development
