We are looking for an API specialist to join our Mainframe Core Systems team assisting us in managing the rapidly growing use of this technology in the Bank. The Core Systems team manage IMS, Db2, MQ and z/OS Connect API technologies providing support and management , including life-cycle management of these software. You will become a key player in the design, build, implementation, monitoring and support of high-availability API configurations across Production and non-Production environments.

The role will combine your current foundation in API technology with a solid understanding of Industry best practice and standards, optimising API performance, ensuring we operate secure, efficient systems managed effectively. You will also have a role mentoring other team members in API installation, usage, performance and tuning, monitoring and system architecture.

What will your day look like?

•Translating customer requirements into high-performance, resilient API solutions working with otherspecialists.
•Providing technical support and consulting to API customers and support teams.
•Developing and maintaining API architecture and patterns for consumption including with zOS ConnectOpenAPI 2 and/or OpenAPI 3 protocols.
•Providing rostered 24/7 support with other team members, of our IMS, Db2 , MQ, CICS Productiontransaction processing systems.
•Mentoring and training other team members to help build their API management skills.

What will you bring?

•Demonstrable skills managing API processing in multiple mainframe environments operating technologiesincluding -: DevOps (Git, Ansible, ZOWE,z/OSMF), Unix System Services on z/OS, z/OS Connect.
•Problem determination and resolution expertise ,including performance management experience preferablyutilising technologies including -: Splunk,IMS Performance Analyzer,BMC Log Analyzer,Mainview
•Experience supporting users of API services , preferably including exposure to programming languages -:Rexx, Python, COBOL, Assembler
•The ability to communicate mainframe API processing standards and best practice to customers, includingapplication support and development teams.
•Knowledge and understanding of complex security and threat reduction processes in API and transactionprocessing environments preferably using RACF and zSecure.
