About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Digital Delivery Enablement, the Delivery Practice Lead is accountable for designing, embedding and continuously improving the delivery system that enables consistent, predictable and high-quality delivery across Digital. The role is responsible for defining and protecting Digital's Ways of Working, uplifting delivery capability through practice leadership, and ensuring teams are equipped to plan, prioritise and execute effectively.
The Delivery Practice Lead acts as a key enabler of delivery performance, partnering with Transformation, Technology, Business and Risk leaders to improve delivery maturity, strengthen planning disciplines, and ensure future demand, capacity, dependencies and delivery readiness are visible and actively managed. Through ownership of PI Planning, delivery standards, continuous improvement practices and forward planning frameworks, the role helps Digital make informed prioritisation decisions and maximise delivery outcomes for customers, colleagues and the business.
The role owns:
- Ways of Working, Delivery Standards & Continuous Improvement – defining, embedding and governing the delivery rhythms, standards, controls and practices that improve consistency, quality and predictability across Digital delivery.
- Practice Leadership & Capability Development – leading the Business Analyst and Agile Delivery Lead practices to build capability, alignment, professional standards and delivery excellence.
- Delivery Effectiveness – coaching teams and leaders to improve agile maturity, planning effectiveness, flow, collaboration and execution outcomes.
- Planning, Prioritisation & Delivery Readiness – coordinating PI Planning and governing the Digital "Ice, Water, Steam" planning framework to ensure future demand, capacity, dependencies and delivery readiness are understood and support effective prioritisation and investment decisions.

What will your day look like?
The Delivery Practice Lead acts as a practical delivery enabler and Agile Coach across Digital, ensuring teams have clear standards, strong practice support and effective planning routines.
Ways of Working, Delivery Standards & Continuous Improvement
- Design, maintain and continuously evolve Digital delivery Ways of Working, including delivery rhythms, artefacts, governance touchpoints, controls and minimum practice standards.
- Embed consistent delivery practices across squads and value streams, ensuring clear expectations for planning, discovery, delivery, risk management and reporting.
- Protect the integrity of agreed Ways of Working by challenging unnecessary variation, reducing process drift and ensuring delivery practices remain fit for purpose.
- Partner with Transformation, Product, Technology and Risk stakeholders to ensure delivery standards enable pace while maintaining appropriate control, transparency and compliance.
- Use delivery insights, metrics, retrospectives and practice feedback to identify systemic bottlenecks, process gaps and improvement opportunities.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that improve flow, reduce hand-offs, strengthen accountability and increase delivery predictability.
- Escalate material delivery practice risks, unresolved dependencies or recurring process failures through appropriate governance forums.
- Ensure Digital delivery practices remain aligned to Digital Delivery Enablement priorities and enterprise delivery expectations.
Planning, Prioritisation & Delivery Readiness
- Own the Digital "Ice, Water, Steam" planning framework, providing transparency of future demand, capacity needs, dependencies and delivery readiness across multiple planning horizons.
- Own Digital PI Planning activities, including planning cadence, preparation milestones, stakeholder engagement, dependency management and governance.
- Ensure teams enter PI Planning with sufficient backlog maturity, capacity visibility, dependency awareness and risk consideration to support realistic commitments.
- Surface future resource constraints, capability gaps and dependency risks early, ensuring leadership can make timely prioritisation and investment decisions.
- Support Digital leaders in balancing short-term commitments with long-term strategic outcomes and delivery sustainability.
Practice Leadership & Capability Development
- Lead the Business Analyst and Agile Delivery Lead practices (a team of ~80), creating communities of excellence focused on capability uplift, standards alignment and knowledge sharing.
- Define role expectations, career pathways, practice standards and common artefacts for Business Analysts and Agile Delivery Leads across Digital.
- Coach and support practice members to strengthen stakeholder engagement, requirements quality, planning discipline, dependency management and delivery execution.
- Identify capability gaps and partner with leaders to shape targeted development, onboarding, succession and community learning activities.
- Promote a culture of learning, collaboration and continuous improvement across Digital delivery practices.
- Build organisational capability through the adoption of modern agile, lean and delivery management practices.

Critical knowledge, skills and experience required for this role:
Delivery Operating Models & Ways of Working
- Deep experience establishing, embedding and governing large-scale delivery Ways of Working
- Strong understanding of agile, lean, product and technology delivery practices.
- Experience designing delivery standards, governance frameworks and planning disciplines that improve delivery predictability.
Agile Coaching & Delivery Excellence
- Demonstrated experience coaching delivery leaders and stakeholders to improve agile maturity, planning effectiveness and delivery outcomes.
- Strong understanding of flow metrics, dependency management, backlog quality and continuous improvement practices.
- Ability to influence behaviours and drive lasting organisational change without direct authority.
Practice Leadership & Capability Development
- Experience leading communities of practice or capability disciplines. Strong coaching and mentoring skills.
- Proven ability to define professional standards, uplift capability and build high-performing delivery teams.
Planning, Prioritisation & Delivery Readiness
- Experience coordinating PI Planning or equivalent enterprise planning processes.
- Strong understanding of demand management, capacity planning, sequencing and dependency management.
- Ability to create forward visibility of demand, readiness and delivery risks across multiple planning horizons.
Stakeholder Management & Leadership
- Strong communication and influencing skills across business, product, technology and risk functions.
- Ability to support strategic prioritisation discussions and facilitate decision-making across competing priorities.
- Proven ability to operate effectively in complex, matrixed environments.
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in Business, Technology, or a related discipline.
- Significant leadership experience in portfolio management, delivery management, technology transformation or enterprise change.
Preferred qualifications
- SAFe, Scrum, ICAgile, Agile Coaching or equivalent certification.
- Business Analysis, Product Management or Program Management qualifications.
- Formal training in coaching, facilitation, systems thinking or organisational change.
- Lean, Agile or Product Operating Model certifications.
Desirable, but not mandatory, skills, knowledge and experience:
- Experience in banking, financial services or another highly regulated industry and Digital experience a bonus.
- Experience working in agile environments.
- Exposure to portfolio management, investment prioritisation and strategic planning processes.
- Experience using delivery and portfolio tooling such as Jira, ADO, Confluence or equivalent platforms.
- Knowledge of organisational change, operating model transformation and modern product delivery practices.
