About the Role

 

As a Data Architect, you will lead the data architecture strategy, governance, and design for Wholesale Lending Capability across the ANZ enterprise. This role is pivotal in shaping scalable, secure, and future-ready data solutions across cloud and on-premise environments. You’ll act as a strategic advisor and technical leader—mentoring teams, influencing architectural decisions, and ensuring alignment with enterprise governance and best practices across services such as Lending Services as a Service (LSaaS) and Wholesale Lending Origination.

What will your day look like?

 

  • Set the vision and roadmap for data architecture across Wholesale Lending, aligned with enterprise strategy and governance.
  • Establish consistent standards for data capture, management, reporting, and exposure across business domains.
  • Design and implement scalable, secure data platforms and pipelines across cloud (GCP preferred) and hybrid environments.
  • Develop and maintain enterprise data models, architecture blueprints, and data flow diagrams.
  • Ensure alignment with ANZ’s digital transformation, risk, and regulatory compliance goals.
  • Champion data architecture principles, quality standards, and governance frameworks.
  • Drive adoption of modern data paradigms such as data mesh and data fabric.
  • Lead the design of data ecosystems supporting warehousing, lakes, real-time analytics, and AI/ML.
  • Define frameworks for data ownership, lineage, quality, and metadata management frameworks.
  • Evaluate and guide the implementation of modern data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Azure, AWS).
  • Architect solutions for MDM, Customer 360, and enterprise integration (API, ETL/ELT).

What will you bring?

 

  • 10+ years in data architecture, with at least 5 years in an executive or senior leadership role
  • Proven experience in the banking or financial services industryExpertise in enterprise data architecture, data warehousing, data lakes, and real-time data systems
  • Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements in banking.
  • Deep knowledge of data governance, metadata management, data lineage, and MDM.
  • Expertise in cloud platforms (preferably GCP), SQL, Python, and data orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, DBT).
  • Strong understanding of data modeling (e.g., star/snowflake schemas), ETL/ELT processes, and data warehousing.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and infrastructure as code.
  • Extensive experience with data engineering tools and technologies such as SQL, Python, Hadoop, Spark, and cloud platforms like AWS or Azure.
  • Strong knowledge of data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing.
  • Proficiency in machine learning and statistical analysis methods.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to design innovative solutions to complex data challenges.
  • Certifications in cloud technologies (e.g., Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer).
