About the Role

The Cost Centre of Excellence ('Cost CoE') is a part of the Financial Performance Management team ('FPM') within Enterprise Finance and is responsible for supporting the Group CFO & Divisional CFOs and the business make optimal resource allocation decisions in relation to cost.

To do this, the Cost CoE undertakes a range of financial reporting and performance management activities. The Cost CoE establishes governance and performs financial control activities within the cost domain to ensure the integrity of the cost result.

 

Within FPM, the Cost CoE provides enterprise capability and divisional expertise to drive strategic outcomes and leverages its scale to drive continual process improvement within the cost domain.

 

Your responsibilities include driving the implementation and continuous improvement of the Cost Management Unit Framework, including analysis and insights, ongoing reporting and identification and tracking of CMU productivity initiatives and actions. Focusing on best practice cost management and consistency of implementation across all Divisions in collaboration with relevant teams. This role will also drive Cost CoE standardised strategies across Cost Management processes.

What will your day look like?

  • Deliver high‑quality decision support for CMU and Cost Management aligned to Group strategy.
  • Provide financial transparency to Group and Divisional stakeholders.
  • Support stakeholders with management actions that improve performance across the bank.
  • Lead strategic planning and outlook processes, embedding clear financial targets (CMU Targets/KRAs/OKRs).
  • Partner with the Head of Cost CoE and GGM Financial Performance, supporting interactions with Group CEO/CFOs.
  • Build strong internal networks and maintain effective stakeholder relationships across ANZ.
  • Uphold ethical frameworks balancing ANZ, customer, and community interests.
  • Provide thought leadership and promote collaboration, knowledge sharing, and skill development within Finance.
  • Run effective CMU planning and forecasting aligned to Group expectations for resource allocation.
  • Respond to audit/regulatory issues with clear actions and follow‑through.
  • Drive continuous improvement in Finance Decision Support for a safer, more efficient function.
  • Identify CMU and Divisional opportunities and risks for the enterprise.
  • Support the framework for managing and monitoring CMU productivity.

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

 

Must have:

  • Stakeholder Management - Engaged people and stakeholders to support the effective delivery of projects/initiatives
  • Collaboration - Worked collaboratively with offshore colleagues to achieve shared goals & common outcomes
  • Communication - Used your strong verbal, visual and written communication skills to communicate initiatives, projects, ideas that progress to senior stakeholders
  • Continuous/Process Improvement - Designed, improved or managed operational processes and organisational systems
  • Financial Processing - Work related to costs, understanding of Financial Control processes, policies & procedures,
  • project/investment accounting principles & concepts, running/ managing Finance processes or Planning, Forecast and
  • Performance Reporting
  • Financial Analysis - Structuring, analysing and manipulating data (proficient in Excel) advanced is desirable but not essential
  • Systems & Tools - Proficiency in core tools including Excel/PPT, Sharepoint, PPM, HFM & PSGL with a willingness to learn new
  • tools and techniques

  • Big Picture: Have a broad conceptual understanding of the business, the competitive landscape, and economic factors impacting the industry; and spend time bringing ideas together to understand how they apply to products and services.
