About the Role

 

 

  • The Control Uplift & Testing Team is a first line risk team that forms part of Non Financial Risk business in the Retail Australia division.
  • The team is responsible for controls testing of business controls for the Retail Division and the Commercial Division. Control Testing is an independent evidence-based assessment of whether a control is designed and operating effectively to meet its stated aim – including linked Control Objectives and the scope of the control.
  • As a Control Uplift & Testing Expert, you will report to the Control Testing Team Lead. The role is key in helping manage the end to end control testing lifecycle from control testing plans through to executing on control effectiveness testing requirements. To ensure control testing is completed compliantly, efficiently and effectively in line with the NFR Framework requirements for the Retail Division and Commercial Division. There are no direct reports.
  • The role completes control design and operating effectiveness assessments for all control types; manual, IT dependent manual (ITDM), automated and automated with Bots via the continuous monitoring verification (CMV) mechanism.

What will your day look like?

 

  • Managing the execution of the testing schedule through performing control design and operating effectiveness testing of all control operating types; manual, IT dependent manual (ITDM), automated, and automated with Bots via continuous monitoring verification (CMV). And in compliance with the NFR Framework requirements.
  • Identify control uplift, rationalisation and improvement opportunities to strengthen the control landscape.
  • Identify improvements in underlying control testing processes for productivity and efficiency gains without compromising quality.
  • Manage issues escalation timely, effectively and efficiently.
  • Build strong and influential relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Support the implementation and operation of NFR Framework
  • Testing of all control operating types; manual, IT dependent manual (ITDM), automated, and automated with Bots via continuous monitoring verification (CMV).
  • Identifying where gaps exist in the control environment actions required to uplift and strengthen the control environment.
  • Timely escalation of issues.

What will you bring?

 

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • Experience in control effectiveness assessment / testing across all control operational types; manual, ITDM, automated and automated with Bots via continuous monitoring verification (CMV).
  • Experience in quality assurance / quality control
  • Applied understanding of risk management practices to assist the business with proactive and sustainable control design for existing and new products, processes and technology solutions. This includes Risk Profile Management, encompassing Risk Causes, Control Objectives / Aims, obligations, Business Environment, Key Risk Indicators, etc.
  • Experienced user of GRC systems/frameworks, reporting and other tools required to help the business managing non-financial risks
  • Excellent clear, concise, effective and persuasive verbal and written communication and presentation skills. Ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Continuous improvement and growth mindset – desire to identify, assess and improve the control environment and present risk data in meaningful, timely and innovative ways. A willingness to look at things differently and challenge the status quo – and innovate. Able to anticipate and plan for change – take a long term view of business needs for operational risk management.
  • Strong analytical skills, able to extract and process key information, translate into practical insight and influence decisions.
