The Regulatory Relations team supports ANZ’s relationship with APRA by promoting effective regulatory engagement, strengthening governance practices and providing advice on regulatory risks facing the bank.
About the Role
As the Manager, Regulatory Relations APRA, you will support the global oversight of ANZ’s management of Level 2 regulatory risk and act as a relationship manager for APRA.
You will help manage ANZ’s engagement with APRA, develop and improve supporting governance practices, policies and processes, and provide advice on regulatory risks. You will establish strong relationships with executives and senior stakeholders across the bank and manage highly sensitive and confidential matters with sound judgement and care.

What will your day look like?
As the Manager, Regulatory Relations APRA, you will be accountable for:
- Acting as a relationship manager for APRA, maintaining effective communication and a strategic approach to regulatory engagement.
- Representing ANZ professionally in interactions with APRA and other external stakeholders.
- Developing and implementing engagement models for other regulators in collaboration with relevant teams.
- Building collaborative relationships with business, product, Risk and Compliance stakeholders.
- Promoting a proactive, effective and efficient approach to regulatory relationship management.
- Leading the continuous improvement of governance processes supporting regulator engagement, including issue management, information sharing and regulatory review preparation.
- Engaging with senior stakeholders to identify regulatory themes and trends, sharing insights and providing views on the regulatory risks facing ANZ.
- Managing highly sensitive and confidential regulatory matters with confidence and care.
- Supporting high-level strategy and engagement relating to ANZ’s regulatory relationships.
- Overseeing a small team responsible for supporting effective regulatory engagement.
- Contributing to an enhanced risk culture and upholding ANZ’s values in interactions with internal and external stakeholders, government agencies and regulators.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience, preferably in finance or accounting, supported by practical experience in banking or financial services.
- Substational experience in financial services or Risk Management.
- Outstanding communication and influencing skills.
- Experience managing high-profile regulatory issues through to successful rectification.
- The ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with internal and external regulators and stakeholders.
- Strong influencing and negotiation skills, including the ability to support change.
- Experience in business management, compliance and policy management, governance, planning and prioritisation, relationship management and Risk Management.
- Experience managing a small team would be advantageous.
- Broad organisational knowledge and networks that support effective information gathering.
- Experience developing and improving governance processes would be advantageous.
