About the Role
The Complex Fraud Lead is responsible for leading a high-preforming team of investigators, ensuring strong capability in investigating fraud and scam events impacting our customers and ANZ. The incumbent will have oversight of highly complex and sophisticated fraud and scam investigations, engage with key stakeholders and work closely with State and Federal Law Enforcement.
The Complex Investigation Lead will also provide oversight and support to the Identity Fraud and Inbound Fraud teams.
The role plays a critical leadership function in delivery on ANZ’s commitment to protecting customers from fraud and scams while driving continuous improvement in processes, stakeholder engagement and outcomes.

What will your day look like?
As a Complex Fraud Lead, you are accountable for:
- Lead and manage the day-to-day operation of the Complex Fraud team
- Drive engagement, performance, and capability development across the team
- Provide coaching and guidance to staff on complex fraud and scam investigations
- Provide oversight support to the Inbound Fraud and Identity Fraud leadership
- Manage, guide and direct the investigation of significant fraud and Scam events committed against ANZ and its customers with a view of preventing, mitigating and recovering financial losses.
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders including industry partners and Law Enforcement agencies.
- Identify and implement opportunities to streamline case handling, improve recovery rates and enhance our ability to support customers
What will you bring?
As a Complex Fraud Lead, you will bring:
- Proven leadership experience managing large, multi-disciplined teams
- Deep understand of fraud, financial crime and/ or customer resolution practices
- Experienced in applying regulatory and legal frameworks
- Demonstrated experience in handling complex, high risk or sensitive cases
- Skilled in stakeholder engagement, relationship building and internal influence
- Experience in identifying control gaps and successfully driving operations, technological or policy change
- Ability to interpret and respond to fraud and scam trends, threats, or typologies
- Data driven with continuous improvement mindset and strong decision-making capability
- High levels of empathy, integrity, and professional resilience
