Capability Area Lead - Quality Engineering
About Us
At ANZ, we're shaping a world where people and communities thrive, driven by a common goal: to improve the financial wellbeing and sustainability of our millions of customers.
About the Role
ANZ is looking for a Testing Capability Lead to set the direction for how quality, confidence and automation are built into technology delivery at scale.
This is a senior role for someone who lives and breathes modern testing and quality engineering, can set a strong vision, and knows how to make it real across engineering teams and a large vendor led workforce.
Role Type: Permanent
Role Location: Melbourne
Work Hours: Full-Time
What will your day look like?
- Define and lead ANZ’s testing vision and strategy, with automation at the core.
- Establish clear, modern testing frameworks covering:
- Automated unit, integration, system, regression, performance and security testing
- Continuous and shift left testing approaches
- Test environments, data and lifecycle management
- Agentic embedded workflows
- Tooling insights and development
- Embed testing into CI/CD pipelines and delivery ways of working, not as a downstream activity.
- Lead and influence vendor and partner teams, setting clear expectations and holding them accountable for quality outcomes.
- Establish and define transformation and uplift of change
- Define and own testing metrics that matter, showing real improvements in quality, stability, speed and risk reduction.
- Build strong partnerships with Engineering, Platforms & Infrastructure, Security and Architecture.
- Lift confidence across the organisation that testing is a strategic enabler, not a bottleneck.
What will you bring?
- Deep experience in automated testing practices, tools and disciplines.
- Proven ability to set testing strategy and frameworks in large or complex environments.
- Experience leading or governing vendor delivered testing capability.
- Strong communication skills — able to translate complex testing concepts into clear, practical direction.
- A track record of using data and metrics to demonstrate outcomes and drive improvement.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
