About the Role

The Obligations Manager plays a strategic leadership role in shaping and overseeing the enterprise-wide framework for regulatory obligations management. Reporting to the Group Head of Regulatory Risk and Relations, this role ensures the completeness, accuracy, and traceability of compliance obligations across the organisation. It drives the development and continuous improvement of the obligations operating model, library, and associated governance processes, while fostering strong cross-functional collaboration to embed ownership and accountability. The role also provides expert guidance to senior stakeholders across the bank, ensuring obligations are effectively managed in alignment with regulatory expectations and ANZ’s risk appetite.

What will your day look like?

As a Business SME, Olibgations Management: 

 

Strategic Leadership

  • Lead the development and implementation of ANZ’s obligations management operating model, policies, and standards.
  • Oversee the governance and maintenance of the obligations library, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and traceability to controls and value chains.
  • Drive enterprise-wide alignment on ownership and accountability of regulatory obligations.

 

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Provide expert guidance and strategic advice to senior stakeholders across ANZ's Business, including multi-geographic locations
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulators and auditors.
  • Represent the obligations function in governance forums where required

Operational Excellence

  • Ensure timely identification, classification, and recording of regulatory obligations.
  • Lead initiatives to improve data quality, reporting, and automation in obligations management.
  • Monitor and enhance processes to deliver efficiency and effectiveness in obligations oversight.

 

Risk & Compliance Culture

  • Promote a strong compliance and risk culture across the organisation.
  • Ensure obligations management practices align with ANZ’s Code of Conduct and regulatory expectations.
  • Contribute to the uplift of enterprise controls and continuous improvement initiatives.

What will you bring?


To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

 

  • Highly experienced  in compliance, legal, regulatory risk, or operational risk.
  • Proven expertise in obligations management, regulatory frameworks, and control environments.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with experience engaging senior leaders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including experience in presenting to executive audiences.
  • High attention to detail and analytical capability to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Experience in designing and implementing governance frameworks and process improvements.
