About the Role
As a Business Assurance & Controls Manager within the Customer Protection Assurance Team, you’ll play a key role in helping to ensure adequate first line risk advisory support is provided to the Customer Protection business. Key accountabilities include:
• Partnering with the Business to drive the right risk culture, develop a strong understanding of the Business's needs and priorities to ensure operational and compliance controls are built in up front.
• Being a key member of a multi-disciplinary Assurance team who provide practical and customer-oriented risk and compliance solutions and are trusted partners of the Business.
• Facilitating effective governance of key risk elements across the Business and support the embedding of awareness of risks, policies and obligations.

What will your day look like?
As a Business Assurance & Controls Manager, you are accountable for:
• Partner with the Business and your Assurance colleagues in the identification, assessment and management of risks, controls and issues.
• Building and maintaining relationships including influencing stakeholders to uplift the risk and control environment.
• Develop a strong understanding of the Business, its needs and priorities to ensure risk and compliance is built into process and solution design.
• Risk advisory support to the Business with informed decisions on risk management as part of BAU and changes.
• Prepare monthly risk reporting and providing key insights to facilitate robust and value-add business discussion.
• Support annual BAU risk profiling and ongoing risk profile uplift activities.
• Support risk data inputs into annual attestations and governance processes.
• Providing control objectives and compliance support (incl. support of control design) including value chain controls relied upon by the businesses.
• Supporting the business with HIPS related activities via review and challenge and overlaying risk and controls expertise.
• Supporting the business in actioning outcomes of thematic reviews and deep dives by Line 2 and 3, and other hot spots identified through trend analysis such as events management.
• Maintaining and managing risk data in NFR Hub.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
• Strong expertise in operational risk management, assurance and/or operational excellence.
• Strong collaboration across value chain stakeholders and partners.
• Strong engagement with stakeholders and ability to build relationships.
• Strategic thinking coupled with strong execution and delivery focus
• Good understanding of risk policies, business regulatory environment and key material risks (e.g. Privacy Act, CPS230, AML/CTF, etc) to provide the Business with sound risk advice and guidance.
• Passionate and continuous improvement mindset.
• Down to earth and self-aware, you’re keen to work in a team where there are no egos, just great people doing amazing work.
