About the Role
The Audit Manager role is accountable for executing audit engagements in line with the annual Audit Plan, reviewing specific business areas and assessing the adequacy and appropriateness of the risk controls in place.

What will your day look like?
Financial
- Ensure delivery of audit projects within specified timeframe and budget.
- Ensure productive use of resources (self and others).
- Ensure risk identification is performed effectively, reducing where possible, the scope of the review without reducing the provision of assurance.
- If required, contribute to the development of the annual IA plan and the allocation of resources based on risk profile of business areas.
Customer
- Support the Team Leader throughout the audit projects to manage the expectations of the business, and maintain an effective working relationship with the key business contacts.
- Audit messages and recommendations are value adding, material, show foresight, are timely, commercial and pragmatic.
- Ensure line management buy into the audit findings while also proactively and effectively managing any disconnect in opinions that may arise between senior parties during an audit.
Process
- Conduct research and fieldwork on components of an assigned work area within a business, working towards a clear understanding of the business drivers and risk profiles of the business.
- Critically analyse the appropriate use and / or effectiveness of internal controls within that area.
- Create clear and concise working documents, addressing key risk areas with appropriately drawn conclusions, and demonstrating clear traceability of findings.
- Execute Audits in alignment with IA methodology and IIA standards and ensure methodology efficiencies are identified.
- Ensure the Audit Director / Audit Owner / Team Leader is appraised of any significant audit issues (this includes audit progress, challenges arising and issues) in a timely manner.
People
- Act as an informal mentor to junior members of the IA team and new joiners.
- Develop, agree and implement annual development plan which develops skills and experience. Provide feedback regarding the performance of Team Leaders, and reflect on own performance, by completing assignment appraisals as required at the conclusion of each audit.
- Ensure effective teamwork approach at all times.
- Compile and keep up to date own performance and development plans. Solicit and act on development and performance feedback.
What will you bring?
- Banking & finance industry knowledge.
- Strong track record of delivering high quality work in complex technical areas (e.g. audit, assurance).
- Internal / external audit or Digital/Transformation risk.
- Experience within the Australia Retail & Commercial Division.
- Experience in supporting change and overcoming resistance to change.
- While not essential exposure to using or applying data analytics in your previous roles.
