Internal Audit (IA) serves as the independent third line in ANZ’s three lines of defence (3LOD) governance model. Our IA function is made up of multiple teams that work together to help the bank move at pace safely, leveraging our enterprise-wide perspective and independence. 

 

We currently have multiple permanent opportunities available within Technology Internal Audit. These opportunities include:

 

Audit Managers and Senior Audit Managers, Technology – experienced candidates who have either led or executed Technology audits including integrated audits. We are also looking for candidates with proven capabilities in data, cybersecurity, and cloud. 

 

Capabilities include: a sound understanding of IT systems, cybersecurity frameworks, cloud, and data management practices; strong ability to use or apply data analytics in assurance / risk management context; and banking & finance industry knowledge along with exposure to program/project management reviews.

 

While not a requirement, consideration will also be given to candidates who have an understanding or exposure on how to audit AI systems, including evaluating AI models, algorithms, and outcomes; awareness of emerging technologies and ability to continuously improve and innovate audit tools and techniques; and exposure to applying agile auditing practices.

 

In this role, you will assess risks, evaluate controls, and provide strategic recommendations to strengthen the Bank’s control environment. You will engage with senior stakeholders and ensure the delivery of high-quality, value-adding audit outcomes. Your responsibilities span financial oversight, stakeholder engagement, process improvement, and team development, helping to drive innovation, operational excellence, and effective risk management across the organisation.

Work Hours: Full time, 40 hrs/week

What will your day look like?

As the Audit Manager or Senior Audit Manager, you will be accountable for:

  • Audit Delivery: Planning, leading, and executing audit engagements focused on technology, data, and automation, ensuring alignment with the annual Audit Plan and audit standards.
  • Risk & Controls Assessment: Evaluating the adequacy of controls and work with management to develop sustainable solutions that enhance risk management and support strategic objectives.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Building strong relationships with senior stakeholders, communicating audit findings effectively, and managing differing viewpoints constructively.
  • Financial Management: Ensuring realistic budgeting, efficient resource use, and contributing to audit planning based on business risk profiles.
  • Process Improvement: Delivering high-quality audit reports, recommending process enhancements, and leveraging technology to improve audit effectiveness.
  • Team Leadership: Leading and developing audit teams, providing coaching and feedback, and promoting collaboration and capability building across Internal Audit.
  • Global Collaboration: Working closely with global colleagues to share insights and strengthen the overall audit function.

  • Effective relationship-building, negotiation, and conflict management capabilities.
  • Data analytics awareness, with a focus on improving audit efficiency and insight.
  • Leadership in technology audits, including managing medium to high complexity reviews and developing team capability.
