About the Role

As the Associate Director, Sanctions Institutional you will support the Director Sanctions with the effective Sanctions risk management for the Insto division ensuring compliance with regulatory obligations, adherence to enterprise risk management standards and uplifting Sanctions capabilities in the business.

 

You will support the Director Sanctions providing sanctions advisory to support business value chains and enhancing the risk and control environment; support top-down risk identification, assessments, regulatory or policy change implementation, escalate gaps where controls or frameworks are not effective, and partners with business teams to sustainably design and embed robust financial crime and fraud controls.

What will your day look like?

Your key accountabilities will include:

  • Lead and support sanctions risk management across business processes, products, and customer journeys.
  • Translate sanctions requirements into clear business outcomes, ensuring understanding and value realization.
  • Apply and embed Group Risk policies, standards, and regulatory obligations into divisional practices.
  • Partner with stakeholders to integrate risk requirements into efficient, customer-focused business processes.
  • Conduct risk and impact assessments, including control effectiveness reviews, residual risk analysis, and implementation of regulatory or policy changes.
  • Provide risk insights and advisory support through data analysis, while collaborating with Group Risk and key stakeholders to drive consistent risk expectations and outcomes.

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • Strong knowledge of financial crime and sanctions risk, risk management frameworks and regulatory obligations of Financial Crime Risk.
  • Ability to apply risk expertise practically within business and operational contexts across multiple teams or processes.
  • Strong capability in risk analytics, tooling and automation.
  • Demonstrated ability to support the evolution and embedding of risk frameworks in financial services environments; and ability to translate data and insights into practical risk mitigation strategies, including uplift initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of controls design, assurance and testing.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and drive cross-functional collaboration.
