About the Role

As an Associate Director, Conduct & Compliance Risk - Products & AU, you will sit within the Institutional Division Conduct and Compliance Centre of Expertise (COE) and focus on embedding best best practice Conduct and Compliance Risk management for the division. 

 

You will drive first line of defence risk management and partner closely with Institutional frontline teams, Enterprise Risk Theme experts and NFR Governance & Reporting teams to manage value chain and country risk profiles. You will support effective Conduct and Regulatory risk management through an end-to-end customer journey lens, strengthening the risk and control environment while leading risk identification, assessments and regulatory change implementation. This role also partners with business teams to sustainably design, uplift and embed Conduct and Compliance risk management frameworks and controls.

What will your day look like?

Your key accountabilities will include:

 

  • Interpret and apply Group Risk policies, standards and regulatory obligations relating to Conduct and Compliance risk for Institutional.
  • Lead impact assessments and implementation activities arising from regulatory, policy or risk standard changes.  
  • Lead Regulatory Change execution delivering regional governance and supporting Institutional oversight.  
  • Inform inherent and residual risk assessments for Conduct and Regulatory risks across Institutional value chains and countries.  
  • Conduct thematic reviews to identify control gaps, weaknesses and emerging risks, supporting remediation activities.  
  • Partner with business teams to design, uplift and embed effective controls aligned to enterprise risk frameworks.  
  • Prepare risk insights, analysis and reporting to support governance forums and decision-making.  
  • Escalate material risk issues, control failures and non-compliance matters in line with established protocols.  
  • Monitor the effectiveness of Conduct and Compliance controls and their alignment to governance frameworks.  
  • Act as a trusted risk partner, supporting Line 1 ownership and accountability for Conduct and Regulatory risk.  
  • Collaborate across risk disciplines to deliver practical and consistent risk management outcomes.
  • Promote a strong risk culture through guidance, coaching and practical support. 

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • Strong expertise in risk management frameworks and controls.  
  • Ability to apply risk expertise within complex business and operational environments.  
  • Sound judgement and the ability to balance business and customer outcomes.  
  • Experience using risk analytics, tooling and data-driven insights to drive risk outcomes.  
  • Ability to interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into practical business solutions.  
  • Experience supporting regulatory change, remediation activities and assurance findings management.  
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, influencing and communication skills.  
  • Experience advising senior leaders and governance forums on risk-related matters.  
  • Ability to drive cross-functional collaboration and embed Line 1 risk ownership.  
  • Understanding of enterprise risk frameworks, Conduct & Compliance risk standards and related risk disciplines.  
  • Knowledge of the Institutional Banking environment, products and customer journeys.  
  • Tertiary qualifications in business, law, risk or a related discipline, with relevant professional certifications highly regarded.
