About the Role

 

 

As an Application Fraud Officer within our Customer Protection team, you will play a critical role in protecting both ANZ and its customers. You will be responsible for assessing and validating the authenticity of applications across a range of ANZ products, using a combination of investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills to identify potential risks and suspicious activity. Working in a fast-paced environment, you will review applications, conduct fraud investigations, and make informed decisions to mitigate potential fraud losses. The role requires strong attention to detail, sound judgement, and the ability to analyse complex information to prevent fraud and identify emerging fraud trends.

What will your day look like?

 

 

The Application Fraud Officer plays a key role by validating the authenticity of applications across a range of products. The role is responsible for identifying potential fraud risks, investigating anomalies and inconsistencies, and making informed risk-based decisions.

 

As an Application Fraud Officer, you are accountable for:

· Validate the authenticity of applications across a range of ANZ products. 
· Identify, investigate, and assess potential fraud risks, anomalies, and suspicious activity.
· Make sound risk-based decisions to prevent fraud losses and protect customers and the bank.
· Manage individual workloads effectively while meeting productivity, quality, and SLA targets.
· Deliver accurate, timely, and professional customer service to meet customer expectations.
· Maintain strong working relationships with internal business units and external stakeholders.
· Ensure compliance with ANZ policies, governance standards, and regulatory requirements.
· Follow appropriate security and privacy procedures when handling customer information.
· Contribute to quality assurance outcomes and maintain high standards of accuracy in decision-making.
· Identify opportunities to improve fraud processes, procedures, and controls.
· Collaborate effectively with team members to achieve operational and customer-focused outcomes.
· Continuously develop fraud knowledge and stay informed of emerging fraud trends and risks.

· Excellent time management and prioritisation skills, with the ability to meet competing deadlines and service levels.

· Well-developed verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence and build rapport with others.

· Ability to apply sound judgement and a risk-based approach when assessing applications and fraud concerns.

· Experience in fraud investigations, fraud detection, application fraud or a related field, including managing fraud-related customer

interactions, would be highly regarded.
