About the Role

 

In this Business SME, Policy Governance role, you will provide senior-level support in designing and implementing a robust target operating model for policy governance across Group and divisional policy documents. You will maintain and enhance ANZ’s comprehensive policy inventory, governance tools, and reporting mechanisms to ensure strong awareness and consistent application of the policy framework. A key focus will be on establishing clear policy hierarchies and naming conventions, while leveraging future-ready technology solutions.

 

The role also involves delivering thought leadership to influence the quality and clarity of policy documents, making them easier to find, understand, and adhere to. Continuous monitoring and improvement of ANZ’s policy framework will be central to driving compliance and operational excellence.

What will your day look like?

 

As a Business SME, Policy Governance, you are accountable for:

 

  • Supporting the implementation and effectiveness of ANZ’s policy governance framework
  • Partnering with key stakeholders to provide advice and guidance to influence efficient policy drafting, governance activities, priorities and outcomes
  • Reducing policy complexity and driving efficient purpose and values led principles-based policy in easy to understand language and terms
  • Preparation of policy governance reporting to facilitate meaningful decision making by key leaders and policy owners

What will you bring?


To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

 

  • Courage and commitment to drive change, coupled with resilience and a strong growth mindset to thrive in a fast-paced environment.Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships, influencing and negotiating with senior stakeholders to achieve strategic outcomes.
  • Strong project management capability, including prioritisation and risk-based decision-making to manage complex and conflicting issues effectively.
  • Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal) to engage, influence, and simplify complex concepts for diverse audiences.
  • Proven analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to leverage technology and data to enhance governance processes.
  • Experience in policy governance (preferably within Financial Services or large/global organisations) and familiarity with risk and assurance frameworks.
