About Us

At ANZ, we're applying new ways technology and data can be harnessed as we work towards a common goal: to improve the financial wellbeing and sustainability of our millions of customers.

About the Role

As a Data Specialist within our Internal Audit (IA) team, you will play a pivotal role in expanding our Data Analytics capability to enhance risk insight and assurance coverage. Working across multiple IA teams, you’ll contribute to strengthening ANZ’s enterprise-wide risk lens through the innovative use of data, automation, and AI.

You will partner closely with colleagues across the audit function to understand data needs, support risk-focused work, and design analytical solutions that uplift our insight and coverage. This role also contributes to building a data‑driven culture within Internal Audit, helping to embed better ways of working through analytics, automation, and emerging technologies.

Banking is changing and we’re changing with it, giving our people great opportunities to try new things, learn and grow. Whatever your role at ANZ, you’ll be building your future, while helping to build ours.

Role location: Makati or Eastwood (Quezon City)
Role Type: Permanent
Schedule: Dayshift
Work arrangement: Hybrid

What will your day look like?

As a Data Specialist, you will:

  • Support the Chapter Lead and Senior Data Scientist in delivering priority initiatives aligned to Internal Audit’s AI and Data Strategy.
  • Develop AI and machine learning solutions that enhance efficiency and deliver meaningful insights across the audit lifecycle.
  • Work closely with audit teams to identify opportunities, design technical solutions, and embed data‑driven auditing practices.
  • Uplift the technical capability of the broader IA team by sharing expertise in analytics, AI, and advanced modelling.
  • Apply statistical and analytical techniques to interrogate business data and generate targeted insights.
  • Help build and reinforce an AI‑ and data‑native culture within Internal Audit.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across ANZ Group globally, drawing on your strong stakeholder management and influencing skills to drive adoption and alignment.

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • Demonstrated experience delivering AI/ML solutions to solve business problems—ideally across banking, consulting, internal audit, or risk.
  • Awareness gained through training or prior experience on how AI agents can simplify and automate critical business tasks.
  • Strong understanding of the analytics lifecycle, including exploratory analysis, modelling, data wrangling, data quality, hypothesis testing, visualisation, and dashboarding.
  • Hands‑on technical experience with tools such as Python, Qlik, KNIME, and SQL.
  • Exposure to cloud‑based AI and ML platforms (desirable).
  • Strong problem‑solving and quantitative analysis skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication, and the ability to interpret and simplify complex concepts for non‑technical stakeholders.
  • The ability to build and maintain productive working relationships.
  • A track record of consistently delivering results, even in the face of challenges or uncertainty.
  • Qualifications in Data/Business Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics/Statistics, Information Systems, or related fields.

You’re not expected to have 100% of these skills. At ANZ a growth mindset is at the heart of our culture, so if you have most of these things in your toolbox, we’d love to hear from you.
