About the Role

As a Risk Event Management Specialist, you will contribute to ANZ’s purpose and strategy by providing operational risk and control expertise to our Talent & Culture (T&C) function.

Role Type: Permanent, Full-time 

What will your day look like?

As a Risk Event Specialist, you will: 

 

  • Manage events by assessing impacts and identifying causes and control weaknesses with the business stakeholders 

  • Assess financial and non-financial exposure (operational, reputation, and compliance) 

  • Engage with T&C and other function and divisional risk teams on events, impacts, causes, and (where required) any regulator notifications

  • Recommend risk treatment plans for the business and other impacted stakeholders

  • Maintain the quality and integrity of information related to events through to closure.  

  • Support the wider team by working with your peers on the design of business controls that are recommended from events

  • Educate the team and wider T&C on good event management practices that have an end-to-end view. 

  • Manage event reporting and analyses that can be used by each function within T&C and T&C more broadly as part of our Operational metrics. 

  • Improve the event management process, track trends, and find efficiencies or proactive risk management initiatives to implement

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

 

  • Strong working knowledge of NFR (Non-Financial Risk) including strategy, appetite, and culture

  • Demonstrated capability in communicating with and influencing Senior Leaders, peers, and team members (as relevant)

  • Ability to Identify, develop, and implement initiatives that lead to improved and effective management of the events lifecycle

  • Commercial acumen, backed by analytical thinking to effectively balance business needs and risk appetite 

  • Courage and commitment to drive change and constructively question the status quo.

  • Relevant experience leading teams, preferably within risk, compliance, audit and/or assurance 

  • A ‘culture carrier’ with leadership capability to shape and motivate team demonstrating ANZ’s values and leadership behaviours

  • Practical knowledge of operating risk and compliance policies and procedures 

  • Experience in working in hybrid work environments with teams across multiple geographic locations

  • Proficient in the following capabilities: Customer centricity, systems thinking, nurtures innovation 

  • Experience in using relevant systems, reporting, and other tools required to help the business in managing their non-financial risks 

  • Experience in the Human Resource business
