About the Role

As a Credit Manager, you will support the business in achieving profitable growth by maintaining credit quality in line with agreed Business Writing Strategies and the Bank's credit principles, policies, and procedures. You will be responsible in applying Judgmental Credit Policies and SME Credit Policies, ensuring asset writing is within guidelines with pertinent JCR, SMCR, BWS, DOL and STG guidelines and provide judgement to assess Wholesale Credit Reviews, Risk grade reviews and exception approvals.
 

This role is accountable for the following:

 

  • Make sound credit decisions based on quality analysis, in a timely manner which meets the objectives of Business Unit/Division under Judgmental Credit Policy, SME Credit Policies and Guidelines
  • Identify high risk exposures when assessing Reviews and upward tier the file to the appropriate Credit Partner onshore as required.
  • Provide specialist consulting and credit support to stakeholders.
  • Build co-operative working relationships with Judgmental Credit Managers onshore.
  • Ensure appropriate systems, tools and MIS are available to support credit risk management strategies.

Shift Schedule: Dayshift schedules will be adhered to, Mondays-Fridays, Hybrid work Set up

What will your day look like?

As the Credit Manager, you will:

 

  • Assess and communicate decisions on credit and portfolio quality matters in an effective and timely manner
  • Act promptly on warning signs of credit deterioration and ensure proactive management of problem accounts with remediation strategies
  • Identify high-risk exposures in credit proposals and escalate to senior credit executives as needed
  • Highlight policy and procedure inconsistencies, gaps, and inhibitors
  • Support the wider Credit team with initiatives to improve efficiency and effectiveness
  • Provide training, support, and mentoring to raise the quality of credit proposals and portfolio management
  • Build strong relationships and information flows with key stakeholders
  • Attend relevant Business & Risk governance forums and workshops
  • Identify opportunities to enhance compliance, risk practices, and processes for improved outcomes
  • Promote ANZ’s Risk Culture and ensure adherence to Credit policy and iCARE values

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

 

  • Extensive experience within the Banking or Financial Services industry in a relevant credit decision role
  • Strong understanding of Group credit principles and policies, including Judgemental Credit Requirements and SME Credit Requirements
  • Advanced credit assessment and analysis skills to exercise Credit Approval Discretion (CAD) and make sound credit decisions
  • Credit decisioning experience in supporting senior credit approvers with recommendations on credit related matters, and completing approvals in line with delegated authority.
  • Experience in handling credit approval processes, analysing financial statements and credit risk factors, deal structuring and implementing risk mitigation strategies.
  • Ability to follow effective risk management practices that meet business targets through acceptance of sound, profitable transactions across a range of products and industries
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to summarise complex situations and instil confidence in credit strategies
  • Knowledge of macro and industry economics
  • Knowledge of governance and compliance frameworks for financial and non-financial risks
  • Experience in leveraging digital technology and data to increase efficiency and effectiveness
  • Experience in delivering real time business demands, managing conflicting views, and managing competing priorities
  • A collaborative, decisive, and solution-focused approach
  • Tertiary qualifications in Banking, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Law (desirable)
