About the Role
Market Surveillance is a global function within Markets Risk and is critical in making this happen and will bring together all aspects of regulatory and financial crime risk management. We are a second line function who work together with the business and leverage advanced technology to help ANZ anticipate and navigate the forever changing regulatory environment.
The Market Surveillance Analyst (Mandarin / Cantonese) will support the Market Surveillance team by applying ANZ’s policies and procedures to business related communications and escalating examples where a potential misconduct or breach of policy may have occurred.
The role is also accountable for, but not limited to the following:
- Reviewing and escalating communications between in-scope users and the external market to help detect and minimise potential market misconduct and market abuse.
- All alerts are reviewed with care and diligence within specified timeframe to allow for full and thorough investigations
- Any other tasks as requested including but not limited to Cantonese language alerts
- Understanding ANZ’s Policies and Procedures relevant to the task above
- Improved processing and management of alerts being reviewed, through recommendation of Lexicon additions and refinement.

What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- Ability to read/write and speak Mandarin fluently is an essential skill. Ability to read/write and speak Cantonese is a highly desirable. (A language allowance will be paid to the successful candidate)
- Experience in Compliance, Governance or Financial Markets Product knowledge
- Strong understanding of market misconduct and abuse issues
- Capability to combine independent working with mentoring junior staff
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to follow process and meet timeframes
- Communicate effectively with senior stakeholders, audit and regulators
