About the Role
As a Financial Control Specialist, Group Statutory Reporting you will be responsible for key elements of external statutory reporting which is the primary means for reporting to key stakeholders including the Bank executive, the Board, shareholders and investors. You will be responsible for assisting the Group Statutory Reporting process, including preparation of half yearly and annual reporting and process requirements. This includes analysis and interrogation of divisional financial results and supplementary data submissions. In addition, this role is responsible for managing the restatement, chart of accounts and financial hierarchies update related processes.

What will your day look like?
This role is part of the Financial Control (FC) community of practice, with principal accountabilities being:
- Assist the preparation and/or review in relation to ANZ Group Reporting and/or other Statutory Reporting ensuring accuracy and timelines are met. This includes the Annual Report, Results Announcement, Japanese Report and US Report.
- Provide information and advice, and influence key internal and external stakeholders to ensure that all Statutory Reporting complies with financial accounting policies, statutory requirements and/or regulatory requirements.
- Ensure external Auditor requests and queries are responded to on an accurate and timely basis.
- Assist with the monthly financial close process across the Group, including finalisation of actuals, month on month analytical review and appropriate governance activities to support the integrity of the actuals where appropriate.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders (Divisional Finance, Legal, external Auditors, CSO, Group HR, Financial Systems, FP&A, Accounting Policy, and Treasury) ensuring all needs are delivered on time.
- Provide information and advice, and influence key internal stakeholders to ensure that all reporting complies with financial accounting policy, statutory and/or regulatory requirements.
- Embed simplification, standardisation and elimination of financial control activities/processes where appropriate.
- Engage with stakeholders to identify, manage and mitigate compliance risks and issues ensuring solutions are acceptable to the Audit Committee and the External Auditor.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- A bachelor’s degree and a qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) / Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA)
- Professional experience in financial services roles
- Solid working knowledge of financial control within a financial services environment
- Curiosity and initiative that can identify and support continuous improvement initiatives
- Experience in analysing and presenting finance matters, including issues and resolutions to stakeholders
- A collaborative approach and a ‘can-do’ attitude
