The Markets and Treasury Financial Control team (MTFC) is responsible for maintaining a robust control environment whilst producing financial reporting and analysis for the Markets and Treasury divisions. MTFC ensures the business is well managed from a financial and regulatory standpoint through the application of disciplined end-to-end trial balance control processes including but not limited to Balance Sheet (BS) & Profit/Loss (P&L) recognition and substantiation, through new trades review, P&L explain/attribution of all market and model inputs, price testing of trader marked inputs, defined valuation adjustments, analytical review and review of regulatory data, performance attribution, and FX/cash exposures management. 

 

This is an excellent opportunity to be part of the MTFC Manila team to broaden your learnings and experiences across the bank using your analytical, problem solving, process re-engineering skills and markets product knowledge gathered through either roles in Markets risk, Markets front office or Markets Finance.

 

The Financial Control Associate - Portfolio Accountant will be supporting the financial management of the Markets & Treasury portfolio wide financial control outcomes and looks at financial reporting processes (from month end close up to data reporting) that impact multiple global business units. It requires extensive liaison with other teams or functions who engage with the Portfolio team for their financial reporting outcomes, beyond MTFC team, including but not limited to Divisional Governance, Audit, Hub Financial Risk Governance, APRA Regulatory Reporting CoE and HFC Institutional ex-Markets.

 

The role also entails the following responsibilities, but not limited to:

 

  • Markets centralised data sourcing, accounting and reporting services at a divisional level
  • Support the implementation and ownership of centralised, standardised processes and controls within Markets and Treasury Financial Control and APRA Regulatory Reporting CoE
  • Accurate and timely delivery of standardised outputs to country that are flexible enough to meet month-end delivery requirements, regulatory reporting requirements, registers, schedules, reconciliations, trial balance, and ensuring accounting services are completed to support financial reporting and successful audit completion
  • Support the BU change agenda, incl. elimination/simplification/automation of relevant financial control activities

To be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

 

  • Professional experience in financial services or control function roles 
  • Good knowledge of Markets and Treasury finance data flows
  • Knowledgeable in accounting policy and procedure reviews
  • Strong attention to detail and critical thinking mindset
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong MS suite skills including data analysis – Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Support continuous improvement and work effectively with ambiguity
