About the Role

As an Engineer, Automation: you will be responsible for designing, building, and deploying automation solutions while leading our team’s adoption of cloud and AI technologies. The ideal candidate will have experience in Python development, RPA tools, cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP), and CI/CD practices. You will help maintain legacy systems while modernising our automation capabilities to align with ANZ’s strategic technology direction. 

You will work closely with squad members to ensure outcomes meet customer expectations and support the team’s long-term capability uplift. This role will involve leading cloud deployments and exploring AI / LLM use cases while supporting existing Python, web, and KNIME-based automation tools.

In this role, you’ll be more than a developer – you will help architect the way we work, from CI/CD practices to cloud strategy. You will join an agile, collaborative team delivering end-to-end solutions that simplify Finance and drive efficiency. 

• Design and implement our team’s CI/CD strategy, ensuring secure, scalable and reliable deployment pipelines. 
• Build and enhance automation systems using Python and other tools to drive efficiency and cost savings 
• Lead the deployment of automation, bots, and web applications using AWS and GCP. 
• Explore, evaluate, prototype and implement AI and large language models (LLM) solutions with real applications in Finance automation. 
• Collaborate with engineers and business stakeholders to ensure smooth delivery and alignment with standards. 
• Continuously learn new tools, platforms, and technologies 

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

• Proficiency in Python for automation and application development. 
• Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS and/or GCP) and modern deployment practices. 
• Experience with RPA Platforms (e.g., Power Automate, Automation Anywhere) and KNIME workflows is a plus 
• Experience in designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines. 
• Exposure to AI/LLM technologies and interest in applying them to business use cases. 
• Familiarity with DevOps tools, Git, and Agile collaboration platforms such as Jira and Confluence. 
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills with the ability to work across technical and non-technical teams. 
• A growth mindset – curious, self-driven, and adaptable to emerging technologies.
