About the Role
As an Assistant Manager for Settlements team, you’ll play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely settlement of foreign exchange and money market transactions, ensuring adherence to internal controls, regulatory requirements, and market deadlines. The role manages both day-to-day operational (BAU) deliverables and team performance, guiding staff while monitoring settlement processes, resolving exceptions, and coordinating with internal teams and counterparties to maintain operational efficiency and mitigate settlement risks.

What will your day look like?
As an Assistant Manager, you are accountable for:
- Supporting management in achieving agreed FTE targets and workforce plans.
- Ensuring the Settlements – SME FX team is appropriately resourced in line with business needs.
- Overseeing accurate and timely settlement of transactions and ensuring prompt resolution of inquiries.
- Actively participating in complex stakeholder management and contributing to key internal projects.
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives and supporting implementation of product‑related changes, including new product launches for the global product line.
- Maintaining capability and capacity to deliver the global product strategy through regular engagement with Markets Critical Operations teams.
- Managing and developing new or bespoke operational processes and transitioning them into BAU activities.
- Building and sustaining strong working relationships with Front, Middle, and Back Office partners to support business objectives.
- Supporting skills development and talent growth of Settlement team members.
- Ensuring compliance with escalation policies and managing operational escalations effectively.
- Implementing process resolutions and contributing to operational efficiency enhancements.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or related field
- Experience in Markets Operations, Treasury Operations, or Settlements, within a banking or financial services environment
- Strong understanding of the end-to-end settlement lifecycle for FX and/or Money Market transactions
- Knowledge of payment and settlement mechanisms, operational risk controls, settlement risk, and regulatory requirements
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, prioritization, communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience handling trade exceptions, payment investigations, and settlement breaks
- Exposure to process improvements, control enhancements, or system implementation initiatives
- Proven supervisory or mentoring experience while maintaining BAU deliverables
- Proficiency in operations systems, spreadsheets, and reconciliation tools
