About the Role

The UK regulators implemented the Senior Managers and Certification Regime (“SM&CR”) to embed a culture of individual accountability and to promote strong conduct within firms.  As a SM&CR Manager, you will support the Country Head UK to bring together the components of the regime and ensure they work together to create a whole, compliant outcome for ANZ. This will be achieved through robust SM&CR oversight (eg: calendars, checklists, documented processes that are accessible and adhered to, training and reporting), by ensuring that new and evolving regulatory requirements under the regime are met, and by identifying opportunities for ANZ to uplift its approach to compliance.

 

Role Type: 12 Months’ Secondment/ Fixed Term, Full Time

What will your day look like?

Your key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:      

 

  • Critically assessing ANZ’s approach to SM&CR compliance and recommending and implementing opportunities to uplift that approach
  • Reviewing and updating policies, documents and procedures relating to the various element of the regime (including reasonable steps, handovers, fit and proper, delegations, decision making frameworks, training, prescribed responsibilities, branch governance and committees, certification process).
  • Supporting the various stakeholders to execute their responsibilities under the regime (eg Country Head UK, Senior Managers, Offshore Reporting Lines, Talent & Culture and Compliance).
  • Leading meetings with key internal stakeholders (Talent & Culture, Global Accountability Regime leads) to align approach with functions & Group and to share good practice and engaging external stakeholders (other Australian banks in the UK, external legal firms) as required to understand industry developments.
  • Identifying opportunities for enhancements to the framework to improve efficiency (eg introducing automation to processes).
  • Creating high quality agendas, meeting materials and minutes.
  • Assisting in various initiatives and tasks to support the Head of Business Execution and overall business.

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will have knowledge and experience with SM&CR and the ability to apply that experience to improving ANZ’s approach to compliance. You will also ideally bring the following:

 

  • Very strong organisational skills.
  • Very strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a number of competing priorities and deliver quality outcomes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; experience writing discoverable minutes will be highly regarded.
  • Familiarity with Confluence and highly proficient with Microsoft products, especially PowerPoint.
  • Attention to detail and the curiosity to challenge.
  • Strong team player with positive mindset.
  • Understanding of Risk & Compliance Management Frameworks and Policies.
