About the Role

 

As a Markets & Treasury Financial Control Specialist, Europe & America you will be responsible for all non‑traded risk P&L across Europe and America and provide cross‑coverage for traded risk P&L across E&A. You will oversee the accounting and financial reporting of the trading and sales business, including preparation of the daily profit and loss statement and maintaining a strong control environment across trading systems and processes. In addition, you will provide core finance support to help the business manage existing portfolios and optimise growth opportunities.

Role Type: Full-time, 6 months fixed term contract

 

What will your day look like?

 

As a Markets & Treasury Financial Control Specialist you will;

 

  • Prepare and analyse the daily desk P&L, including investigation of unusual movements.
  • Review trading strategies, market risk sensitivities and market rate changes.
  • Deliver monthly Markets result analysis and prepare the monthly Finance reporting pack.
  • Complete key monthly reconciliations, including EHU and volatility reserves.
  • Act as a business partner to Front Office, providing insights and challenge where required.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Operations, Risk and other support teams to deliver effective solutions.
  • Identify control weaknesses and drive improvements to processes and reporting.
  • Oversee month‑end balance sheet substantiation and manage assigned account reconciliations.
  • Execute daily central controls, including internals and cancel/amend checks.
  • Support new product review and approval, including process, systems and technical accounting considerations.
  • Maintain and enhance Product Control systems and ensure accurate daily and monthly management reporting.
  • Provide reporting and analytical support for new product launches and business initiative

 

What will you bring?

 

 

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

 

  • A qualification in business, accounting, economics, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of the Product Control function within Institutional Banking.
  • Advanced Excel skills with the ability to build and maintain spreadsheets.
  • Good working knowledge of complex derivatives and financial markets.
  • Ability to work under pressure with fast‑paced product and trade flows and tight deadlines.
  • Exposure to a trading desk environment.
  • Succinct and direct communication style, using facts to support analysis.
  • CPA/CA qualification preferred.
