About the Role
As a Regulatory Compliance and AML & Sanctions Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the ANZ Hong Kong’s Financial Crime Compliance framework and ensuring effective systems, controls and governance are maintained to manage and minimise risks associated with money laundering, terrorist financing, sanctions, bribery and corruption.
As a team member of the Bank’s Financial Crime team, you will provide subject matter expertise and advisory support across AML, CTF, Sanctions and Financial Crime matters, while overseeing a broad range of business-as-usual activities. Working closely with stakeholders across the Bank, you will be responsible for customer due diligence reviews, monitoring and investigations, risk assessments, regulatory reporting and supporting the implementation of key Financial Crime initiatives to ensure compliance with regulatory and internal requirements.

What will your day look like?
As a Regulatory Compliance and AML & Sanctions Manager you will;
- Provide CDD advisory and approval support for new client onboarding, Enhanced Due Diligence Review (EDR) and Ongoing Customer Due Diligence (OCDD).
- Review and address quality control clarifications raised by GCC and resolve data quality issues.
- Perform quality control reviews on complex customer structures and negative news assessments.
- Manage and review AML, transaction monitoring and sanctions alerts, including WLM, TMS and country-related sanctions reviews and approvals.
- Review and approve ECDD and SEDD cases through the OCR portal and respond to related queries.
- Manage requests from local enforcement agencies, including stakeholder engagement and preparation of formal responses.
- Conduct AML/CTF country risk assessments and provide recommendations where required.
- Support ABAC risk assessments and training activities across the Bank.
- Review Source of Wealth (SOW) assessments and outsourcing checklists.
- Prepare the HKRMC AML Risk Dashboard and provide insights on emerging risks and trends.
- Support ad-hoc fraud investigations, market intelligence gathering and typology updates for Financial Crime Prevention.
- Conduct AML risk assessments for new products and support product paper reviews.
- Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the HKMA Financial Crime Return.
- Perform business verification testing (BVT) for system changes and related regulatory drills.
- Act as the local administrator for third-party record management with Iron Mountain, including document archiving and retrieval.
- Support the implementation of the HKMA CSP Project and other regulatory initiatives.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Banking & Finance, Business Administration, Computer Science or a related discipline.
- Experience in AML, CTF, Sanctions and Financial Crime Compliance within the banking industry.
- Strong understanding of local and global AML, CTF, Sanctions and Financial Crime regulations and requirements.
- Experience in customer due diligence, enhanced due diligence, sanctions screening and transaction monitoring activities.
- Strong knowledge of Financial Crime risk management frameworks and controls.
- ACAMS qualification is required.
- HKMA Enhanced Competency Framework (ECF-AML) Certification is required.
- Familiarity with regulatory expectations and industry practices, including those of the HKMA and Hong Kong Association of Banks (HKAB).
- Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders across the organisation.
- Strong analytical judgement, investigative capability and a risk-based approach to decision-making.
