As a Head of Non-Financial Risk, International & Coverage you will be accountable for leading non-financial risk across the International business, operating as a trusted advisor to International business leads across 19 markets in Asia, Europe and the US. It supports sustainable growth by ensuring non-financial risks across Markets, Transaction Banking, Corporate Finance and Coverage are identified, assessed and managed within appetite. 

 

Operating at a Managing Director / Executive Director level, the role provides strategic risk counsel, drives strong risk governance and embeds a proactive risk culture to support effective decision-making, regulatory compliance and sound customer and business outcomes. The role also engages proactively with regulators across jurisdictions, leads the regulatory change agenda, and ensures emerging requirements are understood and embedded effectively. In addition, it is accountable for delivering the PACT program and building and leading a high-performing non-financial risk team across the international footprint. 

Your key accountabilities in this role will include:

  • Act as the senior trusted advisor to Institutional business on non-financial risk matters across 19 countries 
  • Provide constructive challenge, insight and oversight on risk profile, key themes, control effectiveness and risk in change  
  • Build strong relationships with business leadership, 2LOD and control partners to drive aligned risk management outcomes  
  • Lead the non-financial risk governance framework, including forums, reporting, escalation and decision-making processes  
  • Ensure material risks are identified, assessed, managed, monitored and reported within appetite with clear ownership and transparency  
  • Drive uplift in controls, tools, data and processes to strengthen the control environment across markets  
  • Partner with Regulatory Compliance to engage proactively with regulators and maintain a regulator-ready environment  
  • Manage the regulatory change agenda, ensuring emerging requirements are understood, translated and embedded effectively  
  • Anticipate emerging risk themes and regulatory expectations, driving timely response and continuous enhancement of frameworks  
  • Lead delivery and embedding of the PACT program, ensuring effective and sustainable uplift in risk capability and processes  
  • Build, lead and develop a high-performing international NFR team, strengthening capability and succession across key locations  
  • Represent the International business with senior stakeholders and partner globally to ensure consistent risk standards with local nuance 

About You


To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • Extensive experience in institutional banking and non-financial risk across Markets, Transaction Banking, Corporate Finance and Coverage  
  • Deep expertise in non-financial risk management, governance frameworks and control environments within complex financial services organisations  
  • Proven ability to operate as a trusted advisor to senior business leaders, influencing decisions across multiple jurisdictions  
  • Strong experience engaging with regulators and translating regulatory expectations into practical and sustainable business actions  
  • Demonstrated ability to lead regulatory change and risk or control uplift initiatives across international environments, including enterprise-wide programs such as PACT  
  • Exceptional communication and influencing skills, with the ability to distil complex risk matters into clear, actionable insights  
  • Strong senior leadership capability with experience building and leading high-performing international teams  
  • Ability to develop talent, strengthen capability and foster a strong risk culture across multiple locations  
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in risk, finance, commerce, law, business or a related discipline  
  • Professional qualifications or accreditations in risk, governance, compliance or finance are highly regarded
