About the Role
As an Associate, Research & Analysis (R&A) in our Institutional R&A team, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of International Banking clients in Hong Kong. Your primary focus will be to deliver high-quality credit analysis and risk assessments that support sound credit decisions. This includes evaluating clients’ business models, industry dynamics, capital structures, and financial performance. You will prepare well-structured credit papers, formulate effective risk mitigation strategies, and provide consistent, high-quality credit recommendations. In this role, you will also coordinate closely with Relationship Managers, Risk, and Product Partners, acting as a key liaison for MNC clients to ensure compliance with booking point credit risk, policy, and regulatory requirements.

What will your day look like?
As an Associate in the Institutional R&A team, your day will be varied and impactful, involving activities such as:
- Supporting revenue growth and helping maximise revenue/RWA across the Hong Kong Institutional Banking portfolio.
- Attending client meetings with Relationship Managers to understand business models and industry dynamics.
- Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to stay aligned with industry trends and client needs.
- Contributing to strategies for onboarding new transactions, managing deteriorating credits, and identifying deal structuring opportunities.
- Enhancing industry knowledge through active participation in relevant groups and forums.
- Maintaining credit quality across the portfolio and ensuring alignment with risk appetite through timely reviews.
- Preparing concise, high-quality credit papers with sound recommendations and risk mitigation strategies.
- Ensuring full compliance with ANZ credit policies, processes, and audit requirements.
- Identifying and suggesting process improvements to drive efficiency.
- Collaborating with Relationship Teams, Lending Operations, Product Partners, and Risk to support client outcomes.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- Strong and relevant experience in risk analysis across Institutional Banking clients.
- Highly motivated, self-directed team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills—both written and verbal.
- Tertiary qualification, preferably in Commerce, Business, Accounting, or Economics.
- Strategic mindset with a commercial approach and a proven ability to balance risk/reward priorities.
- Solid knowledge of banking products, loan structures, trade finance, and global markets.
- Proficiency in Mandarin (preferred), to support effective communication with Hong Kong based clients, many of whom operate in Mandarin-speaking environments.
