About the Role


As a Senior Lawyer in our Legal Team, you’ll provide quality, timely, commercially relevant and cost effective legal advice to ANZ’s business, to support the growth initiatives of the business, while at the same time managing legal risk.

What will your day look like?


As a Senior Lawyer, you will:

  • Ensure internal processes, policies and procedures, including relating to risk management, knowledge sharing, document simplification and training, are complied with and (where possible) improved.

  • Knowledge and awareness of all policies and procedures relating to risk and compliance that incumbent is required to comply with.

  • Anticipate commercial impact to our business areas of law reform proposals; manage legal risk in business context and in disputes; educate business in regulatory/legislative impacts.

  • Build a robust and healthy risk culture within business and work closely and collaboratively with colleagues in Risk & Compliance, especially to manage conduct risk and to pro-actively encourage good behaviour.

What will you bring?


To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • Tertiary qualification (law degree minimum) and current practicing certificate, with at least 7 years post admission experience.

  • Strong experience in banking and finance and corporate and commercial law, including exposure to and experience with financial markets products, documentation, transactions, and corporate governance.

  • A good working knowledge of, and experience with, the laws of Vietnam and other major Asian jurisdictions. Ideally this experience will have been obtained while working in a law firm, and in a major financial institution located in Vietnam.

  • Demonstrated ability to work under remote legal supervision, and to provide commercial solutions-based legal services, while maintaining robust independence of legal advice.

  • Demonstrated experience in provision of advice and proactive influence of outcomes.

  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills and Strong team player.
