About the Role
As a Senior Manager – Enterprise Sanctions Compliance in our Financial Crime Portfolio, you’ll play a key role in helping ANZ maintain an effective Sanctions Compliance Program. This role is to maintain up-to-date knowledge of the global sanctions, proliferation financing and export control regulatory landscapes and ANZ operating environments, promote awareness and risk management across ANZ and provide Sanctions, Proliferation Financing and Export control compliance specialist expertise.

What will your day look like?
As a Senior Manager – Enterprise Sanctions Compliance, you will support the Group Sanctions Lead with:
- Designing, developing and maintaining the Sanctions Program and supporting documents, reflecting relevant legislative obligations and ANZ's Sanctions Risk management strategy and risk appetite.
- Providing subject matter expertise guidance and advice on Sanctions, Proliferation Financing and Export Control compliance and risk management considering industry best practices and emerging threats/trends.
- Engaging with stakeholders to consult on optimal policy design and Financial Crime teams to provide guidance on the implications of the changing external sanctions environment for their consideration.
- Conducting comprehensive analysis of the external sanctions regulatory landscape and associated geopolitical developments to inform ANZ’s integrated sanctions risk management strategy and working with the various teams in FCP to ensure to ensure outcomes of Financial Crime risk-theme/risk coverage and threat assessment insights inform/are utilised in improving policy design.
- Providing SME input on training content to increase knowledge and understanding of Sanctions compliance.
- Working with Country Risk Theme Officers and Regional MLROs to develop an understanding of how changes to local obligations may impact Sanctions risk and policy documents and with other specialist SME to provide input to submissions to ensure the ANZ impacts are considered by governments/regulators when developing legislation.
- Representing ANZ and contribute to relevant industry bodies (ABA, AFMA and RMA).
- Collaborating with other Risk Theme areas such as Information Security, Group Security, Geopolitical Risk, Country Risk, Business Continuity to have a cohesive ANZ response for emerging risks that need a multipronged approach.
- Supporting Group Sanctions Lead to provide relevant reports on FC matters to Board/Committees, as required to meet regulatory obligations and on various Regulatory interactions and related activities.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- Detailed knowledge of Sanctions obligations locally and internationally
- Sound understanding of risk management disciplines
- Demonstrated experience in financial crime regulatory compliance in financial services industry
- Ability to manage conflicting priorities and multiple stakeholder groups
- Strong negotiating, influencing and consulting skills
- Excellent planning, organisational, time management, collaborative and prioritisation skills
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems involving various stakeholders, create shared clarity, remain results focused and balance risk and customer outcomes
- Solid understanding of regulatory requirements, expectations and better practices globally with respect to Sanctions, Export Control and Proliferation financing risks
