About the Role

 

As a Senior Analyst in Financial Crime Threat Management (FCTM), you’ll investigate financial crime risks and support strategic reviews across Trade Financing and Correspondent Banking. Your work will help identify threats and recommend controls through improved monitoring and business processes.

 

FCTM protects ANZ and its customers from financial crime by using data and intelligence to detect, investigate, and escalate suspicious activity, including money laundering, terrorism financing, and sanctions breaches. This role sits within the broader Financial Crime Portfolio and contributes to its strategic objectives.

 

You’ll be responsible for investigating, reporting, and escalating TBML and CB AML/CTF matters, ensuring compliance with legislation and policy across multiple jurisdictions.

What will your day look like?

  • Investigate transaction monitoring alerts from generation to case closure, with a focus on TBML and Correspondent Banking risks.
  • Analyse trade transactions, shipping routes, counterparties, and documentation (e.g. Letters of Credit, invoices, customs declarations) to identify suspicious patterns or anomalies.
  • Support deep-dive threat assessments using financial crime indicators across Institutional, Commercial, and Retail banking.
  • Prepare and submit detailed reports for internal stakeholders and complete regulatory reporting (SMRs/SARs)
  • Collaborate with internal teams (GCC, Financial Crime Risk, Line 1 Trade, Relationship Managers) to assess and mitigate TBML risks.
  • Review customer profiles and trade behaviours to detect financial crime risks and escalate findings appropriately.
  • Use analytics tools and intelligence sources to validate red flags and refine monitoring scenarios.
  • Deliver targeted training and share insights on emerging TBML and CB risks with internal stakeholders.

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

 

  • Direct experience in Trade and Supply Chain operations or reviewing trade documentation is required for this role. Your experience in freight forwarding while not mandatory is highly regarded
  • Ability to identify inconsistencies and irregularities in trade documentations and supplied financial data
  • Exceptional written and spoken communication skills with ability to influence stakeholders 
  • Skilled communicator, able to translate complex information into clear advice and produce reports for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Proactive and collaborative, self-driven team player who thrives under pressure and consistently meets deadlines
  • Strong financial crime and compliance expertise, with the ability to assess risk, navigate ambiguity, and contribute to large-scale initiatives
