About the Role
As a Product Owner, Payments Governance in our Team, you’ll play a key role in helping to enable and inspire a multi-disciplinary team (“Squad”) to peruse its mission, by guiding them on ‘what’ work should be completed by the squad. As a Product Owner you will constantly prioritise tasks and the squad’s backlog with the customer at the heart of their decision making.
You will also ensure that the work is strategically aligned to the Tribe’s mission and engages with other Product Owners to align and manage interdependencies. Whilst this role is not a people manager, it is a key leadership role, galvanising the squad around a vision and supporting them to successfully deliver customer value at pace.

What will your day look like?
As a Product Owner, Payments Governance, you will:
- Run Service Management Governance for payments across all jurisdictions which ANZ operates across the end-to-end value chain.
- Services include, but are not limited to, high value clearing (i.e., RTGS, Cross Border), low value clearing (i.e., direct entry and cheques), cards and real time payments (i.e., NPP).
- Guide and develop payment service management governance’s strategic direction in embedding well management including, but not limited to, management of multiple industry body attestations, supporting the execution of enterprise wide programs (CPS230 / High Impact Processes) and driving a continuous improvement agenda for governance activities.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- A strong understanding of payment obligations across regulatory, industry, ANZ policy and customers.
- Ability to navigate the organisation and contextualise payments across the end-to-end payment value chain.
- A desire to strategically develop payment service governance, while balancing immediate continuous improvement and well management needs of the organisation.
- Able to influence across the end-to-end value chain and advocate for payment service governance to ensure that ANZ can meet our obligations.
- Be proactive in identifying implications across our payment services and the impact on our obligations across regulatory, industry, ANZ policy and customers.
- Able to bring together payment service governance with ANZ’s risks organisation to ensure alignment of payment governance frameworks and ANZ’s risk management frameworks in the context of payments.
- Broad understanding of different payment services (i.e., high value clearing, low value clearing and real time clearing) across the end-to-end value chain from both a business and technical perspective.
- Preferred experience in payment related regulator and/or industry attestations or product management.
