About the Role

 

As a Manager - Collections and Recoveries Risk you’ll play a key role. This role is responsible for Credit Risk Infrastructure which helps the business in growth and momentum activities whilst reducing credit risk for the bank.

 

  • Maximise operational collections effectiveness and efficiency whilst optimising bad debt charge across Retail & SBB portfolios.
  • Execute day-to-day activities to support the implementation of risk policy & strategy governing the management of loans in arrears, balancing, customer, shareholder and regulatory objectives.
  • The role focuses on all segments of the arrears portfolio apart from Hardship and Loss Recoveries.

What will your day look like?

 

As a Retail Credit Risk Infrastructure Specialist, you will have the opportunity to the following: 
 

  • Financial: Development and implementation of Collections policy, strategies, and practices that are geared towards balancing the trade-offs across customer experience, cost to collect, and delinquency & loss management.
  • Customer: Providing expert education to business units in relation to; performance levers pertaining to a) collections performance and related impacts, financially and operationally, b) improving the efficiency and effectiveness of risk-based collection process using appropriate solutions and their alignment and, c) build collaborative relationships with business partners and other key stakeholders in order to add value.
  • Process: Designing, implementing, and evolving programmatic champion-challenger testing across the collections lifecycle with clear hypotheses and adoption of statistical rigour with respect to test design and analysis of experimental outcomes.
  • Risk Compliance: Managing Non-Financial Risks. Know your risks, know your controls, manage your COR events (information in COR is accurate, up-to-date, easy to understand, and action oriented). Supporting Audits and delivering on all audit-related commitments.
  • Risk Compliance: The identification of trends, risks, issues and opportunities; resolving them and/or reporting or escalating to snr mgt as required.

What will you bring?


To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

 

  • Strong analytical, numerical, research and problem-solving proven ability to turn data into information and information into actionable business decision strategy.
  • Proven technical capabilities and experience with data analytics/science and/or decision systems techniques and tools (e.g., SAS, SQL, R, Python, PowerCurve, AbInitio, etc.).
  • At least five years’ experience in risk management, managed strategies for both retail and commercial products (3+ products). Skilled at the use of facts in discussions and communication with staff and peers.
  • Excellence in presenting highly complex problems and processes in simple terms that are easily consumed by a broad range of stakeholders, adjusting the level of messaging to suit the audience.
  • Well-developed written and oral skills with ~60% of role behavioural, stakeholder engagement evident, executive presence a strength, 40% of the role technical (having already exhibited experience in previous technical roles via individual’s career path).
