About the Role

As a Journey Expert – Senior Business Analyst in Deposits & Payments under the Everyday Banking portfolio, you’ll play a key role in a dedicated project team, where your squad mission will be to deliver on a program, aiming to transform the existing Third-Party and Intermediated Deposits experience for intermediaries, advisers, end-customers and staff. You will contribute to the Program by applying both Business and Technical Analysis expertise, through capturing, documenting, and interpreting business and technical requirements, along with associated process flows, to drive and support the business transformation. Additionally, you will support the Product Owner from a PMO standpoint, including project, release, technology, and financial management, reporting, leading and coordination.

What will your day look like?

As a Journey Expert – Senior Business Analyst, you are accountable for:

 

  • Working in a squad where you will use your experience and skills to work collaboratively with various ANZ businesses, technology teams and our vendors to perform data-driven business and technical analysis to elicit and define detailed requirements. 

  • Using a range of elicitation and documentation techniques (i.e. HCD Toolkit, Process Modelling, Use Cases, Stories, Acceptance Criteria, Interface Specifications etc.) to define requirements, current and future state in business and technology environments and conduct impact, risk and scoping assessments. 

  • Leading a team a Business Analysts by setting clear objectives, defining priorities, and fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment to drive outcomes for the program’s needs. 

  • Creating detailed process flows and swimlane diagrams to represent key insights, with the goal of identifying opportunities to enhance operational efficiency and streamline workflows.

  • Co-ordinating with the project team, cross-functional teams and our vendor to ensure timely and successful delivery.

  • Project co-ordination and administration, where you will assist the Product Owner in managing and reporting on project progress, including timelines, budget, resources, and workstreams.

  • Conducting workshops with a wide range of stakeholders across different areas to ensure business and customer impacts have been fully considered and communicated to stakeholders, whilst bringing your problem-solving, technical and analytical mindset to help the bank support best practice delivery of a major change. 

  • Supporting the project’s change and risk management workstreams by liaising widely across the bank to ensure the program meets internal project delivery, change, risk and governance requirements, whilst maintaining a high level of hygiene with documentation and collaterals.

  • Sound understanding of the technology landscape and able to document solution architecture and contexts. 

  • Assisting the Product Owner in managing our core team as well as wider working groups, as required, and drive a culture of fun and excellence. 

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

 

  • A can-do attitude and willingness to ‘roll up your sleeves’ with the team to get delivery across the line in a fast-paced VUCA (volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous) project environment, flexing consistently between your SME capabilities and squad priorities that require swarming. You’ll need to multi-task and be highly adaptable to change and ambiguity. 

  • You will be experienced in eliciting, documenting, and managing detailed business and technical requirements and conducting analytical activities such as process modelling, gap analysis, solution assessment and change transition using a wide range of elicitation and documentation techniques.

  • Previous experience in leading a team of Business Analysts, providing guidance and support to drive outcomes, and steering the team where needed to align with shifting priorities.

  • Strong functional experience or expertise in one or more of the following disciplines: Business/Technical Analysis, Project Management, Change Management, Risk Management, and/or Solution Architecture.

  • Adept stakeholder management and an adaptable personality will help excel in the role when dealing with Business Owners from different Business Units, Leadership Teams, other initiatives, technology teams and vendors.

  • Experience in large-scale technology projects/transformations and/or platform migrations. Interest and understanding of technology projects, technical solution architecture and technical requirements documentation will be highly regarded.

  • You will have experience in project team administration/co-ordination and/or forecasting, as well as reporting and management of project progress and performance (including financials and resource management).

  • You will have expert documentation, facilitation, analysis and management skills to help manage the program’s operational and technical risk obligations, assist in program hygiene and maintain the integrity of what the team will deliver (e.g. User Stories and Acceptance Criteria).

  • Proficiency with collaboration tools (e.g. Teams, JIRA, Confluence, Sharepoint, etc.) and project management tools (e.g. Microsoft Excel and Project, etc.).

  • Having a risk lens on at all times to ensure sustainable solutions are identified and explored to protect customers, stakeholders, and the bank.

  • You are experienced in conflict management and have complex problem-solving skills to handle team or stakeholder issues and can manage unexpected challenges effectively.

  • You have a demonstrable record of delivering on time and budget with different project delivery methodologies (Agile and Waterfall) and internal governance frameworks.

  • An intense passion and curiosity for customers, their needs and wants, putting them at the centre of everything you do whilst optimising customer journeys and experiences.
