As a Financial Control Expert, Retail in our team, you will play a key role to lead the financial control function for Australia Retail in the Australia Retail, Australia Commercial & 1835i Digital Financial Control team.
You will drive the delivery of Finance’s objectives and priorities, and support the business to thrive as it transforms and modernises with the rollout of ANZ’s new banking platform, ANZPlus. As a trusted partner, you will collaborate closely with the Business, Business Partners, and the Cost Centre of Excellence on business activity and provide financial reporting expertise and advice.
With responsibility for the delivery of well managed finance processes you will partner with the Manila Hub Financial Control (Retail) team (HFC) to deliver reliable, accurate and timely financial results and insights, manage non-financial risk and drive key control, productivity and simplification initiatives with the Financial Control Global Process Owner (GPO) team. You will also support the contextual/business review for the APRA Reg Reporting COE with respect to Australia Retail.

What will your day look like?
As a Financial Control Expert, Retail, you will:
• Develop and embed a robust risk, governance and ‘control conscious’ culture within the financial control team
• Ensure a speak-up mindset is embedded and financial or regulatory matters are escalated appropriately
• Provide financial expertise and subject matter excellence to support business performance and controls
• Develop a high performing and engaged team through coaching and guidance, effective feedback, open communication, and role-modelling a ‘speak-up’ culture
• Develop the divisional Financial Control function, focusing on increasing the reach of the function through the application of technology and tools, maintaining trusted relationships with stakeholders and supporting and coaching the divisional Financial Control team
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
• A Bachelors’ university degree, Chartered Accountant (CA) / Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) experience and extensive years of senior executive experience.
• Strong technical acumen with a deep knowledge of financial instruments, statutory and regulatory reporting experience within a financial services environment and providing assurance over financial integrity.
• Strong stakeholder management skills - comfortable managing demands from multiple and senior stakeholders simultaneously and advocating your views.
• Leadership experience - you lead by example and ensure people understand ‘the why’, and have the skills and tools to be successful.
• Effective presentation skills - experience in presenting financial matters, including issues and resolutions, to CFO & business executives.
