About Us

At ANZ, we're shaping a world where people and communities thrive, driven by a common goal: to improve the financial wellbeing and sustainability of our customers. Our Institutional bank helps our largest customers move trade and capital around the region, providing our people with great opportunities to build their technical expertise and their careers.

About the Role

As a Director, Transaction Banking Digital, you are responsible for enabling the safe, efficient and commercially effective delivery of Transaction Banking digital platforms, channels and products globally by embedding practical, first-line non-financial risk management into day-to-day delivery. Working closely with Product, Operations and Technology teams, the role provides clear risk guidance, supports timely decision-making and helps ensure digital change is delivered within appetite.

The role will partner closely with Transaction Banking leadership and digital squads to identify, assess and manage material non-financial risks across platform operations, new digital initiatives and control design. It will strengthen governance, improve visibility of risk exposures, and help embed fit-for-purpose controls across customer journeys, access management, transaction processing, resilience, incident response and third-party dependencies.

Banking is changing and we’re changing with it, giving our people great opportunities to try new things, learn and grow. Whatever your role at ANZ, you’ll be building your future, while helping to build ours.

Role Location: Melbourne, Australia
Role Type: Full-time, Permanent

Work Hours: Dayshift

What will your day look like?

  • Partner with Transaction Banking digital, product, operations and technology teams to embed practical first-line non-financial risk management into platform delivery, change initiatives and digital product development, balancing customer, commercial and risk outcomes.
  • Lead the identification, assessment, monitoring and reporting of material digital non-financial risks across platforms, channels, connectivity solutions and related operational processes, ensuring risks are clearly understood, transparently escalated and managed within appetite.
  • Provide credible advice and constructive challenge on risk in change, control design, governance, incidents, issues and remediation, supporting timely and well-informed business decisions and improving the quality of risk outcomes.
  • Strengthen and maintain the digital control environment across areas such as client access, authentication, entitlements, transaction processing, fraud prevention, resilience, third-party risk, outsourcing arrangements and service continuity.
  • Support the safe and efficient delivery of new digital capabilities, platform enhancements and strategic change by engaging early in design and implementation, identifying material risks and helping teams address key control requirements before launch.
  • Drive strong governance and stakeholder engagement through clear risk reporting, high-quality committee and forum papers, effective escalation of material issues, and close collaboration with business leaders, second-line partners and other control functions.
  • Oversee the management of incidents, issues, audit and regulatory actions relevant to the digital environment, helping ensure remediation activities are prioritised, executed effectively and embedded sustainably.
  • Promote strong first-line risk ownership and uplift risk capability across teams by coaching stakeholders on risk obligations, control expectations and practical risk management in a fast-moving digital environment.
  • Contribute to the ongoing uplift of digital risk management practices, tools and management information, improving visibility of risk exposures and supporting a more mature and scalable control environment across Australia and Asia markets.

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • Significant hands-on experience in transaction banking digital delivery within a large, regulated financial services environment. Candidates should have worked directly in product, platform, engineering, operations or delivery roles, with a strong understanding of digital channels, payments, connectivity solutions, platform operations and the realities of delivering change safely at pace.
  • Deep expertise in non-financial risk management in banking or financial services, including risk assessment, control design, issue and incident management, governance and reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of digital risk exposures relevant to transaction banking, including technology, cyber, data, fraud, conduct, third-party, resilience and regulatory risk.
  • Proven ability to provide practical advice and constructive challenge to senior stakeholders across product, operations and technology, and to influence outcomes in complex delivery environments.
  • Experience supporting digital product development, platform change and control uplift in markets across Australia and/or Asia, with an understanding of the differing regulatory, customer and operational environments across the region.
  • Excellent communication, judgement and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex risk and technology matters into clear, commercially relevant recommendations.
