About the Role
As Director NFR, Payments and Cash Management (PCM), you will be accountable for leading non-financial risk globally for the Payments and Cash Management Product portfolio within Transaction Banking, acting as a trusted advisor to product, sales, implementation, operations and technology stakeholders to enable safe, sustainable and customer-focused growth. At Director level, the role provides practical risk leadership across the end-to-end product lifecycle, ensuring material non-financial risks are identified, assessed, managed, monitored and reported within appetite, with strong alignment to the Transaction Banking strategy and governance requirements.
The role is also responsible for strengthening the control environment for payments and cash management products, including support for product design, change execution, client implementations, regulatory readiness and incident learnings. The incumbent will partner closely with the Transaction Banking business and cross-functional stakeholders to uplift risk discipline, improve transparency of product risk exposures and embed fit-for-purpose controls across processes, platforms, third parties and product governance forums.

What will your day look like?
- Act as the trusted non-financial risk advisor to the Payments and Cash Management Product business, providing practical guidance on product strategy, client solutions, commercialization and change initiatives.
- Provide constructive challenge on product risk profile, control effectiveness, customer outcomes and risk in change across domestic payments, cross-border payments, collections, liquidity and related cash management capabilities.
- Support informed decision-making by translating complex risk matters into clear, relevant and actionable insights for product and Transaction Banking leadership.
- Ensure material non-financial risks across the end-to-end payments and cash management product lifecycle are identified, assessed, monitored and reported within appetite, including operational, compliance, technology, third-party, conduct and resilience risks.
- Drive uplift in product controls, risk indicators, governance, documentation and management information to strengthen transparency, ownership and control effectiveness.
- Oversee the quality and timeliness of risk assessments, control assurance, issues management, incident response and remediation activities relevant to the product portfolio.
- Provide risk leadership for new product development, product enhancements, platform changes, client implementations and strategic initiatives impacting Payments and Cash Management.
- Ensure change initiatives are supported by fit-for-purpose risk assessments, implementation controls, dependency management and clear governance through design, testing, rollout and post-implementation review.
- Identify and escalate material delivery, operational readiness or control concerns that may impact customer, regulatory or business outcomes.
- Support strong product governance through effective forum papers, escalation, issue transparency and decision support for senior stakeholders.
- Maintain a regulator-ready environment for the product portfolio through quality documentation, clear accountability, robust incident and issue management, and evidence of sustainable control uplift.
- Partner closely with Product, Operations, Technology, Compliance, Legal, Financial Crime, 2LOD Risk and Internal Audit to drive aligned and effective non-financial risk outcomes.
- Embed strong first-line risk ownership and awareness across Payments and Cash Management Product teams by promoting practical, customer-focused and commercially aware risk management.
- Coach stakeholders on risk obligations, control expectations and lessons learned from incidents, reviews and thematic risk insights.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of the broader Transaction Banking non-financial risk framework, capability and governance standards.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- Strong experience in transaction banking, with deep understanding of payments and cash management products, client journeys, servicing models and the end-to-end product lifecycle.
- Deep expertise in non-financial risk management within a large and complex financial services environment, including governance, risk assessment, controls, issues and incident management, and risk reporting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of key risk exposures relevant to payments and cash management, including operational resilience, technology and cyber dependencies, third-party risk, conduct risk, regulatory compliance and customer outcome risks.
- Proven ability to provide credible advice and constructive challenge to product, operations and technology stakeholders on product risk, control design and risk in change.
- Strong experience supporting new product approvals, product changes, implementation risk assessments and governance processes in a controlled banking environment.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to synthesise complex risk matters into clear recommendations for senior stakeholders.
- Strong stakeholder management capability with experience working across first line business teams and control partners to deliver sustainable risk outcomes.
