About the Role


As a Credit Risk Policy Manager in our Business Owner / Home Owner Team, you’ll play a key role in helping to shape credit policy. The role will manage the development, implementation, and maintenance of credit risk policies for ANZ’s retail lending portfolio, covering home loans, personal loans and credit cards. This role is pivotal in balancing the bank's growth objectives with its risk appetite, ensuring that credit risk is effectively managed in line with the bank's strategic objectives and regulatory requirements.

What will your day look like?


As a Credit Risk Policy Manager, you will:

  • Develop, implement, and review credit risk policies for retail banking products including mortgages, personal loans, credit cards, and other consumer lending products.

  • Ensure that credit risk policies are in line with the bank's risk appetite, strategic objectives, and regulatory requirements.

  • Exercise expert judgment to either decision complex/escalated credit applications and/or make sound recommendations for executives management to consider in their decision making process. T

  • Assist to deliver an agreed work plan across Acquisition Strategies that is aligned to operational strategies and deliver the greatest benefit to the wider organisation.

  • Provide education to business units in relation to improving the efficiency and effectiveness of credit policy and risk metrics using appropriates solutions and their alignment.

  • Participate in projects to rationalise, simplify, and improve credit policy deployment, acquisition front end strategy, and process.

  • Provide policy advice/training and mentoring to team members.

  • Manage Non-Financial Risks. Know your risks, know your controls, manage your COR events (information in COR is accurate, up-to-date, easy to understand, and action oriented). Support Audits and deliver on all audit-related commitments.

  • Support regulatory engagements, including those of a BAU nature, with relevant insights and updates on key topics and commitments made. 

 

What will you bring?


To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • Strong research and problem-solving proven ability to turn data into information and information into actionable business decision strategy.

  • Understanding of the benefits and insights derived from data analytics/science and/or decision systems techniques and tools to assist with policy development.

  • Solid experience in risk management, with extensive cross-functional and cross-portfolio strategy experience.

  • Proven ability to communicate up and amongst peer groups.

  • Effective people and project management skills. 

  • Well-developed written and oral skills.

  • Expert ability to underwrite and review retail lending applications.

  • Strong ability in judgmental credit decisioning.
