About the Role
As an experienced Business Data Analyst, Fortify in our Financial Crime Portfolio – Financial Crime Strategic Transformation business unit, you’ll play a key role in helping roll out an enterprise-wide project to centrally coordinate law reform and regulatory expectations governing Financial Crime & External Fraud risk. The scope of the program includes achieving compliance with
- substantial changes to the AML/CTF Act in Australia
- New Scams Prevention Framework (SPF)
- Regulatory changes impacting Sanctions risk
- New offence ‘Failure to Prevent Foreign Bribery’
This role will focus on data and business change impact assessments, data requirements gathering, and effort estimation in collaboration with ANZ divisional business and engineering teams.

What will your day look like?
As a Business Data Analyst, you will:
• Perform change impact assessments based on agreed business requirements between the project team and relevant business units.
• Conduct data discovery workshops with senior data and business stakeholders to identify available data and required data across multiple source systems.
• Ability to quickly gather requirements as well as information on the progress of work and communicate them to key stakeholders
• Extract, analyse, and document data lineage from multiple data stores and repositories using SQL and/or other tools.
• Undertake detailed reviews of files and columns against requirements to uncover and share data gaps across enterprise systems.
• Raise and coordinate front-door tickets/processes for data onboarding with Risk Transformation.
• Collaborate with technology architects to gather input and feedback on proposed changes to affected data stores.
• Update or propose updates to metadata for new or altered data elements.
• Ensure compliance with ANZ’s data assurance procedures.
• Support planning activities for implementing data integrations and quality controls.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
• Strong understanding of ANZ divisional and enterprise data, particularly:
• Customer onboarding systems / KYC
• Regulatory reporting
• Transaction processing systems or payments
• Management reporting
• Ability to interpret and document data flows and lineage.
• Familiarity with risk and compliance frameworks in financial services.
• Knowledge of Financial Crime and AML/CTF regulations (highly desirable).
• Excellent business acumen and professional communication skills (written and verbal) for engaging stakeholders at all levels.
• Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail.
• Collaborative team player who can work across multiple priorities.
• Proactive problem solver with the ability to navigate ambiguity.
• Profound knowledge of enterprise data technologies, design, and processes (highly desirable).
• Proficiency in SQL, python and experience working with large, complex data environments (highly desirable).
