About the Role
The Acquisition Finance (AF) team in Australia is responsible for delivering acquisition finance solutions to ANZ clients and ANZ aligned Private Equity firms, the latter a key source of new to bank transactions for the Corporate and Institutional franchises.
The Associate Director is critical to making this happen and will be responsible for supporting the delivery, execution and ongoing management of transactions. It involves a high level of interaction with clients, Relationship Management (RM), Risk and other key stakeholders. The role also involves development of junior staff within the team.

What will your day look like?
Some of the role accountabilities will include:
- End to end transaction execution including credit writing, financial modelling, due diligence assessment and loan documentation.
- Maximise returns on the customer portfolio by ensuring timely credit reviews, accurate risk grading, maximising revenues and minimising losses.
- Focus on ensuring all credit related matters have been addressed, the identification of adverse trends and potential risk events
- Contribute to the cross-sell proposition with clients through RM and product partners.
- Disciplined management and retention of existing clients in collaboration with RM, key stakeholders and Risk.
- Balance risk/return objectives in the acquisition and retention of clients within the asset writing parameters of AF.
- Maintain credit quality by ensuring Risk is engaged early and all credit related matters have been addressed, including the identification of adverse trends and potential risk events.
- Manage documented facility terms and conditions, waivers and policy exceptions.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes to achieve business efficiencies.
- Contribute to and support a high performing team committed to achieving and maintaining a high standard of credit management.
- Take a leading role in motivating and developing junior staff in a high-performance environment.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in the role, you will ideally bring the following:
- Minimum of 5 years or more relevant experience in corporate / project / acquisition or structured finance.
- Tertiary/post graduate qualifications/relevant technical qualifications
- Sound understanding of the relevant market, business and economic trends.
- Well-developed influencing, networking and relationship skills
- Demonstrated ability to identify ongoing process efficiencies
- Experienced with risk assessment, cashflow analysis/ modelling and transaction documentation. Exposure to credit negotiations.
