About the Role
We’re seeking an experienced Associate Director, Financial Institutions Group (FIG) Research & Analysis – Australia, to join our Institutional Banking team.
ANZ’s FIG business provides investment, capital raising and transaction banking solutions to facilitate trade and capital movement across Australia, Asia, the Pacific, Europe and North America. Leveraging our extensive global network allows us to deliver locally informed and regionally tailored solutions to our customers, while maintaining strong risk and return disciplines.
As Associate Director, FIG Research & Analysis, you will play a key leadership role managing a diverse credit portfolio and facilitating new client revenue opportunities. You will work within a team of specialised credit analysts covering predominantly Funds, as well as Diversified Financials and Insurance clients, providing leadership, guidance and direction to deliver high‑quality, globally consistent and time‑sensitive credit analytics.

What will your day look like?
As an Associate Director, your accountabilities include:
- Provide leadership and oversight across the end‑to‑end relationship credit management process, including origination, transaction structuring, risk grading, risk analysis and credit approval, documentation, and portfolio monitoring.
- Actively contribute and guide colleagues to deliver high‑quality, globally consistent and timely credit analytics to support proactive credit decisions.
- Provide first line of defence (in conjunction with relationship managers), ensuring robust risk frameworks and effective credit risk management.
- Act as a change agent by driving efficiencies across policy, process, systems and risk, while embracing the digital agenda across FIG Research & Analysis and FIG segments regionally and globally.
- Collaborate closely with Relationship and Product teams to deliver optimal solutions for clients, often engaging in complex or unusual transactions.
- Support the management of complex accounts, applying strong risk analysis, client support and strategic thinking.
- Play a key “leader/coach” role within the team, supporting capability uplift and continuous improvement.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- Strong experience in relationship credit management in FIG or across other industry segments.
- Highly developed collaboration, relationship, networking and communication skills.
- A strong client focus, with the capability to lead due diligence activities, negotiations and senior‑level customer engagements.
- A strategic and commercial mindset with a proven ability to balance risk and reward priorities.
- Demonstrated leadership capability, with the ability to lead through complexity and ambiguity while driving efficiency and improvement.
- The ability to work independently and deliver outcomes against urgent transaction deadlines.
- A team‑oriented approach, adding value as a transactor and strategic partner to the broader FIG business.
- People leadership capability, with the willingness and ability to support the development of peers.
