ANZ Group Mergers and Acquisitions (“M&A”) is responsible for ANZ’s strategic M&A agenda. We work closely with the Executive Leadership Team, Board of Directors, and senior business stakeholders across the Group to identify, assess and execute M&A transactions that are aligned to the Group’s strategic priorities.
 

 

As an Analyst, your role will be to support senior members of the Group M&A team with the assessment and execution of M&A transactions including by: conducting research, financial modelling and analysis, preparing materials to support findings and recommendations (e.g. Board materials), and supporting end-to-end project management of transaction execution.

What will your day look like?

As an Analyst, Group Mergers and Acquisitions you will:
 

  • Monitor and analyse target business performance and broader operational metrics to support the provision of strategic advice, and more broadly, the delivery of ANZ’s strategic priorities. 

  • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders (e.g. workstream leads, subject matter experts) to support the delivery of M&A initiatives and to assist in the formulation of recommendations to internal stakeholders

  • Be responsible for the preparation of financial analysis, and the key conclusions / insights arising

  • With guidance from senior Group M&A colleagues, preparation of Board / Stakeholder materials

  • Develop and manage strong internal stakeholder relationships

  • Contribute to the development of a strong risk culture and an environment of continuous learning and improvement across the team

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
 

  • Proven experience in banking or an equivalent industry or field, with previous experience in an analytical or performance function preferred (e.g. corporate finance, M&A, investment banking, consulting, valuations etc.).

  • Good presentation, communication and problem-solving skills
  • Modelling, quantitative and analytical skills – ability to research, understand and analyse complex data with a focus on quality, accuracy and details.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop quality insights and solutions.
  • Ability to deal with complex situations holistically, work with minimal direction on complex situations.
  • Strong professional drive.
