Mō te tūranga - About the role
As Head of Client Coverage Institutional - South Island you will be responsible for providing strong leadership and direction for ANZ’s Institutional teams based in Christchurch and driving ANZ’s strategic growth agenda in the region. This role will play a critical part in supporting our Institutional frontline teams to build strong customer engagement and deliver strategic relationship outcomes. You will also manage a portfolio of key Institutional customers and influence key decision makers (from CEOs to Treasurers) to ultimately position ANZ as the “trusted advisor”. As well as having key client responsibility, you will be directly responsible for a team of relationship managers and co-ordinating product support for the South Island customer base.

Ka aha tō rā e kite ai? - What will your day look like
In a typical day or week, you will be responsible for:
- Leading frontline teams to drive strong customer engagement and relationship management outcomes
- Be the face of Institutional South Island to the market and within ANZ
- Managing key Institutional client relationships and driving growth outcomes
- Identifying and executing opportunities across the region, coordinating closely not only with Institutional product teams but also with the wider ANZ South Island team, working collaboratively with Business & Agri to ensure strong alignment and consistency
- Financial performance and driving growth across all product segments
- Working with other areas of Institutional to ensure frontline execution of strategy and initiatives (e.g., customer growth, retention/acquisition, change initiatives
- Direct Leadership: lead the Corporate relationship team, ensuring strategic alignment, operational excellence, and delivery of growth and insights
- Indirect Leadership: influencing and supporting Property Finance, Transactional Banking and Markets teams through collaboration, governance and shared priorities

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- Excellent leadership ability, with proven banking experience in achieving results through others and a track record in effective coaching and development of staff
- Strong customer service focus, relationship management skills, stakeholder management, networking and negotiation skills
- Experience in implementing initiatives to improve the experience, and needs fulfilment of customers
- Change-agile, ability to manage complexity/ambiguity and conflicting demands and build resilience in others so they are able to deliver results in a changing environment
- Data driven decision maker, curious and use data to interpret, draw insights and confirm decisions
- Strong knowledge of and exposure to credit risk and non-financial risk management frameworks, including the regulatory environment that ANZ operates in
