About the Role
As a Tech Area Architect, you will be responsible for the tech area architecture capabilities within Enterprise Finance Domain and Group Risk. You will collaborate with architects within Tech Group Services, Group Risk, Enterprise Finance and across the enterprise to ensure that the target architecture meets the enterprise's needs and aligns with the ANZ strategy and architecture standards. Reporting to the Architecture Chapter Lead.

What will your day look like?
As a Tech Area Architect, your daily responsibilities will include:
1. Strategic Leadership & Architecture Governance
-
Define and maintain strategic architectural roadmaps for Group Finance and Group Risk estates.

Ensure all architecture decisions align with ANZ’s enterprise strategy, compliance requirements, and best practices.

Provide thought leadership, offering expert guidance and recommendations to address business needs and drive innovation.
2. Solution Design & Technical Oversight
-
Design scalable, resilient, and efficient technical and non-technical solutions to meet customer and business needs.

Work across multiple teams, use cases, and source systems to develop an architecture that drives business value and flexibility.

Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve technology challenges, ensuring seamless implementation.
3. Planning, Prioritization and Execution
-
Define priorities, dependencies, and strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with business goals and user needs.

Identify, track, and resolve dependencies across people, processes, and technology.
-
Drive efficient execution of technology roadmaps, balancing short-term impact with long-term scalability.
4. Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Management
-
Build and maintain strong relationships with business and technology teams across Group Services, Finance, and Risk.

Influence senior stakeholders, facilitating informed decision-making and architectural alignment.

Communicate complex architectural concepts in a clear and compelling manner to both technical and non-technical audiences.
5. Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

Work closely with cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.

Act as a bridge between business and technology, ensuring alignment on strategic initiatives.

Promote best practices, reusability, and simplification across the domain to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
What will you bring?
Domain Expertise & Industry Knowledge

Extensive experience in Group Finance, Procurement, Tax, Treasury, and Risk domains.

Strong understanding of financial regulations, compliance, and risk management frameworks.

Proven ability to evaluate and present solution options that align with business needs.
Architectural & Technical Expertise

Hands-on experience in designing and implementing scalable, resilient, and secure solutions across:

Cloud & Hybrid Cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP)

Network, Storage, Compute
-
Cloud SaaS solutions and enterprise applications
-

Expertise in defining and enforcing architectural guardrails, patterns, and best practices.

Strong ability to translate business requirements into technology solutions while ensuring scalability, security, and compliance.

Experience working with engineering teams to address technology challenges and drive innovation.
Strategic Thinking and Solution Design

Proven track record in designing innovative, commercially viable solutions that deliver business value within 3-6 months, while minimizing Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).

Ability to define and maintain architectural roadmaps, domain strategies, and reference architectures.

Strong problem-solving skills, addressing complex, enterprise-wide challenges with scalable and efficient solutions.
Leadership & Collaboration

Experience leading cross-functional teams and strategic initiatives across the enterprise.

Strong ability to influence senior stakeholders, facilitate decision-making, and drive enterprise-wide architectural alignment.

Proven ability to mentor and empower teams, fostering autonomy, innovation, and collaboration.

Capable of stepping into Domain Architect roles when required.
Communication & Stakeholder Engagement

Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to manage stakeholder relationships effectively.

Ability to simplify complex technical concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences.

Recognized as a thought leader in specific technology areas, driving best practices and industry trends.
Qualifications & Experience
-
7-10 years of experience in architecture roles such as Solution Designer, Technical Architect, or Enterprise Architect.
-
Proven ability to drive outcomes and deliver initiatives, with at least 7 years as a Solution Designer/Architect or Engineer.

Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Preferred certifications:

TOGAF certification

Cloud Certifications (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
