About the Role

We're looking for a Coverage Support Team Lead to establish and lead a new team within ANZ's Global Capability Centre (GCC), supporting the Europe Corporate Coverage business and contributing to the growth of ANZ's Corporate customer franchise across Europe and our broader global network.

 

Reporting to the Head of Resources, Energy & Infrastructure Europe and GCC Leadership, you will recruit, develop, and lead a team of analysts delivering high-quality analytical, operational, and client support to Relationship Managers (RMs). Your leadership will be instrumental in building a new operating model that enhances efficiency, delivers valuable business insights, and enables RMs to focus on customer engagement, relationship growth, and business origination.

What will your day look like?

As the Coverage Support Team Lead, you will build and lead a team of analysts supporting ANZ's Europe Corporate Coverage business. Working closely with Relationship Managers (RMs), you will oversee the delivery of high-quality analytical, operational, and client support activities that enable bankers to focus on client engagement, relationship growth, and business development.

You will play a key role in establishing the Coverage Support function within the GCC, including onboarding and developing team members, implementing processes and controls, managing workload allocation, and ensuring consistently high-quality delivery.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of analysts, fostering a high-performing and collaborative culture.
  • Partner with Relationship Managers across Europe to support customer engagement, portfolio management, and business development activities.
  • Conduct customer, industry, and market research to identify opportunities and provide actionable insights.
  • Support the assessment of New-to-Bank opportunities through analysis of financial performance, market position, and banking wallet potential.
  • Prepare customer briefing notes, presentations, pitch books, portfolio reviews, case studies, and other client materials.
  • Maintain account plans, relationship maps, customer databases, and pipeline information.
  • Support portfolio reporting activities through data analysis, validation, performance monitoring, and trend identification.
  • Drive data quality and continuous improvement initiatives across customer, portfolio, and reporting systems.
  • Assist with customer onboarding and due diligence activities, including KYC, OCDD, Enhanced Due Diligence, and sanctions-related processes.
  • Coordinate agreed sections of risk and compliance documentation, escalating issues requiring specialist judgement where appropriate.
  • Ensure adherence to internal policies, risk frameworks, regulatory obligations, and data governance standards.
  • Partner with stakeholders across Bengaluru and Europe to help establish and continuously improve the Coverage Support operating mode

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Commerce, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, or MBA, CA, CFA, FRM, or equivalent postgraduate
  • Minimum 7+ years' experience in Banking or Financial Services.
  • Experience within Corporate Banking, Institutional Banking, Commercial Banking, Credit Analysis, Portfolio Management, Relationship Management Support, Operations, or Customer Due Diligence functions.
  • Demonstrated experience leading, mentoring, supervising, or reviewing work performed by analysts or professional teams.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with experience working across global teams.
  • Strong analytical and research capabilities, with the ability to synthesize information into clear business insights.
  • Experience preparing high-quality management reports, client presentations, briefing papers, portfolio reviews, and business documentation.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis, reporting, reconciliation, PivotTables, and trend analysis.
  • Strong Microsoft PowerPoint capability with experience creating professional presentations and pitch materials.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality, governance, and process discipline.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver outcomes within agreed timelines.
  • Sound risk awareness and judgement, including the ability to identify and appropriately escalate issues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience supporting Corporate, Commercial, or Institutional Banking portfolios.
  • Exposure to Client Coverage, Relationship Management, Business Development, Portfolio Management, or Coverage Support functions within a global banking environment.
  • Experience operating within geographically dispersed teams and matrix reporting environments.
